Ortega almost needs some attrition ahead of him in addition to having a good spring. After all, he's just OK.

Do you like any of these players to bounce back after a rough 2022 season: Anthony Rendon, Cody Bellinger, Nelson Cruz, Jorge Soler, JD Martinez
Brad Johnson
1:48
JD Martinez was good?
1:49
I guess you're asking if he'll be a 30 HR threat again. Possibly!
His peripherals are fading, but they're still pretty impressive. Chavez Ravine can be friendly to launched fly balls.
1:50
In any case, if I'm picking one from that list, it's Martinez
I also like Bellinger's relative youth, though I don't like how Ryan Howard-like he strikes me against sliders inside.
1:51
He's turned into one of those players who's a near-automatic out if the pitcher executes his pitches.
Hey, that could change!

JD Martinez had the worse season of his career since 2013 not counting 2020 Covid
Brad Johnson
1:53
He was still a 119 wRC+ hitter even though he had a fluky-low HR/FB ratio
1:54
I won't say Rendon, Cruz, or Soler are done, but I'm forming draft plans with them in mind. I might tab Cruz or Soler if I need a HR miracle.
I'm not sure what the use case is for Rendon. I don't have a 3B after 20 have been drafted?
1:55
At his best, he's a R/RBI/AVG guy. Seems like he'll be in the wrong role for the run production. Game might have passed him by.

One of my leagues is a ten-team, AL-only keeper league. Traditional Roto rules. I have Luis Severino at $8 heading into his option year. Keep him at $8 or risk extending him for an additional year at $13 total so I have him for 2024 too?  He’s a free agent after 2023 and I’m not convinced the Yankees will bring him back. Thoughts?

Wrapping up if there are any buzzer beater questions out there.
1:56
I'd roll the dice on the extension
He's around a $20 pitcher when healthy.
1:57
So, if you project yourself getting 2/3rds of a healthy season this year, then you'll break even on the 2024 risk of signing in the NL.

is there a sighting of former Angels manager Joe Maddon anywhere?
Brad Johnson
1:58
I'm not aware of any. He's unpopular at the moment.
Believed too much in his personal artistry in an industry that hates art.
1:59
Besides which, I'm not even sure managerial artistry is actually a real thing. I know Maddon believes it is.

18 team H2H OBP dynasty with 21 keepers.  My final 4 keeper slots are down to O Cabrera, Mize, Patino, B Garrett, Karinchak, E Phillips, Paddack.

I want Cabrera, Patino, probably take a shot at Phillips, and...
2:01
I liked the growth Garrett showed. I don't have much hope for Mize, Karinchak is likelier to bust than recover (either is possible), and Paddack is a mystery. He was trending towards reliever status at last look. The Twins like him though, and I trust their dev guys to know what's up.

why is Joe madon unpopular? I would have thought teams that needed a manager would have signed him.
Brad Johnson
2:02
In short, owners/GMs like managers they can control. Maddon is currently being shunned/humbled until some team decides they need a jolt of managerial personality.
2:03
Maddon's kinda like Ozzie Guillen without the aggressive language.
And on that completely not fantasy note... adios. Time to play in the sun.
