They might deal Finnegan too. He's secretly old.
1:30
Someone might take Robles as a 5th OFer.
Wil Myers could be the Reds next Brandon Drury
1:31
The Padres shopped him so hard that surely every club has a thick dossier on him.
I don't see anything else they'd fetch much for. Jake Fraley maybe? Nick Senzel if he ever shows a pulse. Doubtful.
1:32
As for the Royals and Rockies, they've been historically averse to trading their veterans. Could see some moves around the fringes, but nothing likely to affect fantasy managers much.
1:33
Things won't get interesting on the trade front until teams like the Phillies, Angels, White Sox, Red Sox, etc. join the seller contingency.

Deep league - 11 team NL+Astros. 5x5 keeper roto w/weekly transactions, no 0 faab bid. ROS, Roansy or Lugo?
Brad Johnson
1:34
Roansy for me. I think the Padres view Lugo as someone they'd like to keep under 15 starts even if he's performing decently. And Roansy has a broader skill set/better ceiling.
1:35
Lugo totally could be this year's Ross Stripling, but I don't want to make that bet today.

How would you rank these mediocre sps that I’m rostering? Berrios, Eovaldi, Cobb, Taillon
Brad Johnson
1:35
Gimme a minute to chew on this one
1:38
Without taking a half hour to really digest the differences, I have Eovaldi, Cobb, and Taillon as the same asset class. All very different pitchers and stat profiles that end up in the same value-band overall.
They should emerge as positive performers at the end of the season. Nothing special, though they all have potential to put together a surprisingly special run.
1:39
I can't find a pulse on Berrios. The offspeed stuff is good, but his fastball might be THE worst in the league. He really needs to move to the bullpen, reinvent himself, then try starting again later.

Are there offenses, particularly in the NL, you are sitting all but your best starting pictures against? I'm thinking of the Dodgers, Padres, and Mets in particular.
Brad Johnson
1:42
Honestly, I'm drowning so badly on the pitching side that I'm using any warm bodies with a start. Granted, I'm almost exclusively in deep formats where I can't go to the wire for a new arm.
Generally speaking, yes, avoid middling pitchers in bad matchups.

6x6, NL only keeper league with contracts. Juan Soto has been on my team since I selected him in our minor league draft. Is it time to entertain trade offers ? Hasn't looked like the same player since the San Diego trade.
Brad Johnson
1:44
Doesn't hurt to listen, but I'd wait it out personally. The caveat is since it's NL only, you might find yourself holding nothing after next season. Especially if he's more in the 3-4 WAR range the next two seasons. The Padres feel like they'll pony up for a 7 WAR guy. Not so much for a more ordinary outfielder.

Any idea what’s going on with Rasial Iglesias?
Brad Johnson
1:47
As far as I'm aware, he's rehabbing a shoulder injury. Shoulders and lats tend to be the least straightforward pitching injuries. No update on when he'll throw off a mound. My guess is he still has some inflammation from his flat ground work. That's pure guesswork.

Thanks as always, Brad.    I am in search of HR and RBI in an AL only league and am talking trade for an upgrade at catcher to help.  Do you have vision on what to expect on that front from Grandal or Jansen?   I don’t think I can get him, but what’s the full season projection at this point for O’Hoppe?
Brad Johnson
1:49
Starting with O'Hoppe, there are a wide range of potential outcomes. He's almost entirely sold out for powerful fly balls. Typically, such hitters are extremely exploitable and need a few years to smooth the rough edges (see Cal Raleigh for a familiar contact profile)
It's actually a common approach for catchers these days. Focus on the glove, let the bat be all or nothing.
1:50
I wouldn't buy O'Hoppe right now.
1:51
Jansen seems pretty lost right now. I'd try to buy very low, in part because what we saw last season is the lone bright spot in parts of 6 MLB season. Even that was over a mere 248 PA.
1:53
Steer clear of Grandal. He can't find the barrel anymore, and I think he's changing his mechanics to look for it.
Good results are masking dreadful peripherals

Any chance Evan Carter skips AAA and goes right to left field in Texas? Tearing it up at AA.
Brad Johnson
1:53
Yes, there's a chance.
1:54
The public/statline hype on Carter greatly exceeds the scouting report. Just something to keep in mind.
One reason is because the Brandon Nimmo comp is so obvious and Nimmo is coming off a career season.

10 team rotisserie league 5 keepers. Who you like Baty vs Grissom? Thanks
Brad Johnson
1:56
For 10-team, I'd prefer the 5-category potential of Grissom.
Actually, I prefer Grissom outright.
1:57
I view Baty as a higher floor player - Grissom might yet turn out to be a utility guy whereas Baty probably resembles 2020-2021 Yandy Diaz this season.
1:58
Baty's lineup role is very important to his production. Grissom can supply roto value without special run production.

Picked up P. Battenfield this morning in my AL only league for $3 FAAB. Any thoughts on him?
Brad Johnson

Doesn't really profile as a SP to me. Could play up in relief. He's gimicky.
One of those "unique look" guys
