Fantasy Baseball Chat with Brad Johnson

Brad Johnson

That depends how he looks when he returns. Basically has to come back and re-prove it
Houzer

Sandy Alcantara a buy low?
Brad Johnson
2:08
Yes!
One of my top targets at the moment (no success yet)
Michael
2:08
Brad, do you make a living on fantasy baseball?
Brad Johnson
2:10
Not from playing it. I wrote about it professionally from 2014-2022. I've moved to fiction writing this year.
Time for me to wrap it up
Hey Brad
2:10
Who you looking forward to getting the call to the show? Do you ever get called BJ?
Brad Johnson
2:11
Not often anymore. Used to be common (I'm assuming this is one of my old teammates). A second Brad joined my men's league team so it'll probably start up again.
The wait has been agonizing, but I really want to see Andrew Painter.
Vargas
2:12
Any chance he’s demoted?
Brad Johnson
2:13
Chance? Sure. But I think he's looking pretty solid. Going to be a good/not great hitter. I think Vlad Sedler comped him to Michael Brantley, and I don't hate that as a (very) loose expectation for career trajectory.

Should I continue to roster Volpe with so many k's?
Brad Johnson
2:14
The power and SB potential are still so tempting. Seems to be growing. Remember, he got rushed up.
Elbow
2:14
Isn't writing about fantasy baseball technically fiction?
Brad Johnson
2:15
Heh. I mean, not technically. When I wrote an OOTP journal, *that* was fiction.
The best part is I write fantasy fiction.
Oscar Colas
2:15
Just dropped him for Connor Norby is a dynasty league. Makes sense?
Brad Johnson
2:15
Yea, they're the same asset class and Norby has stronger up arrows at the moment.
Grayson Rodriguez
2:15
What's keeping me from pitching like an ace?
Brad Johnson
2:16
Hasn't been the same since his lat injury. Think back to other lat injuries historically - a lot of those guys took years to fully recover or else never did.
Baltimore hopeful
2:16
Would you say that Joey Ortiz is up to stay with Baltimore?  and if so, do you him making an offensive statement?
Brad Johnson
2:18
No, I don't think he's locked into the roster. He'll have to continuously earn his place. They really value his gamesmanship which is a point in his favor. I have mixed opinions about his offensive potential.
He had some really impressive EVs in the minors this year fwiw. Surprisingly impressive.
Guess
2:18
I have two catchers on my roster Stephenson and Melendez… in 1 catcher league.  Is this a big mistake?
Brad Johnson
2:18
Since they're both bad right now, yes, probably. You should be able to stream between similar quality guys.
Jaxon
2:19
How can the O’s justify keeping Holliday in High A ball? I know their organization is loaded but good grief.
Brad Johnson
2:19
I know we're thirsty for prospect advancement, but he only has 93 PA there
2:20
And he only had about 150 PA below High-A. This is one of the fastest trajectories achievable without skipping levels.
Keith
2:20
Would you deal Nola for Alcantara in a forever keeper roto league?
Brad Johnson
2:20
Oooh. I don't know! I feel like you froze me with this one. Probably!
2:21
On that note, let's call it a day.
As always, thanks for playing. See ya in a couple weeks.
