Hey folks, let's kick this into gear.
1:01
As always, thanks for joining. Looks like we have a goodly chunk of questions all queued up.

I badly need another solid starter in my H2H points league. Some FAs include: Wells, Elfin, Luzardo, DeSclafani, Cobb. Who do you recommend??
Brad Johnson
1:01
The good news is that's a nice collection of waiver arms. Eflin is my fav from that batch, but Wells is solid too.
1:02
The others might best be deployed for specific purposes such as strikeouts for Luzardo.
You could totally stream players of that caliber too.

Which Michael Massey is real?
April  Massey or May Massey?
Brad Johnson
1:03
Look somewhere between the two. He has a .400 BABIP in May built around a 93.6-mph avg EV.
1:04
Mainly, he seems to be working counts better to produce better average contact quality.
He can't sustain that level of production, but he can remain serviceable. I don't consider him an exciting player, but he's rosterable in 12-team mixed. Streamer in shallower formats.

If Cincinnati calls up Encarnacion-Strand and Elly De La Cruz in the near future and Votto regains his health and is reactivated where does that leave Steer for playing time and at what position? He’s been doing a nice job for them so far and it seems a shame if he were to lose playing time.
Brad Johnson
1:06
It's my opinion that they won't activate both prospects unless there's an unclaimed spot. That could be Votto never making it back, a fresh injury, or one of Steer/McLain turning pumpkin enough to justify a demotion.
Stephenson's also going to lose out in the near future. CES is all kinds of DH-only-lookin'

Elias Díaz or William Contreras for the rest of the year?
Brad Johnson
1:07
I like Contreras more.
The Brewers have him very focused on the defensive side of the game, so he might catch a heater on offense as those defensive aspects become routine.
1:08
Even if he stays mid-tier, that's fine.
The Sockman
1:08
Which player do you prefer in Dynasty League...Jordan Walker or Corbin Carroll?
Brad Johnson
1:09
Easy Carroll for me. Especially after Walker's attempt to adjust his LA failed. That really caps his HR potential around 30 in a good year and closer to 20 most seasons.

Are the underlying numbers for Brandon Lowe and Devers more promising than the production?
Brad Johnson
1:09
Off the top of my head, yes, I'm not concerned about either player currently. I'll dig a little deeper now.
1:10
Devers is hitting the ball as well or better than ever. Maybe a few too many pulled GBs. He'll have one of those weeks/months where he's the best hitter in baseball sooner or later.
1:11
He's not a .246 BABIP hitter.
1:12
Lowe is also doing his normal thing. He's a summer months guy with all those wall-scraping fly balls. He's among the most likely to go all Kyle Schwarber over June.
I'm big time buying both players. Lowe for HR specifically. Devers for all the non-SB stuff.
The Lone Ranger
1:13
I have Ranger Suarez for 3 units in an NL only 5x5 roto keeper league, will he bounce back within a few starts to his form in prior years?  If I cut Ranger, I'll likely replace his with a lower era/lower whip middle reliever and we don't score holds.
Brad Johnson
1:14
I'm a big fan of his as a performer. He's a smart player so I trust he'll make the adjustments. Notably, he has a 9.82 ERA but a 3.47 FIP and 3.16 xFIP. I think all he really needs to do is shake some rust off his command.
Phillies also have to give him their best infield.
1:15
Hell, now's a great time to buy in my book. Hope you won't mind if I take a minute to write some personal notes for after the chat :)
1:17
ok, I'm back

Brad: Wondering what your analysis is of Emmanuel Clase’s “struggles” this season? He leads league with 17 Saves, velo is over 98, though only 18 K’s in 25 IP, a 17% K rate, has 4 Losses. His savior is his ground ball success, I imagine. My thinking is obviously to hold on to him, hoping there isn’t a gradual fade occurring, and he’ll return to elite status. Your thoughts?
Brad Johnson
1:18
Yea, his stuff has backed up a bit. He's still very good, but there's cause to worry about injury.
1:19
The lower velo cutter isn't inducing wild GB rates like the past. 54.3% GB% isn't outlandish
Hitters have their highest LA and barrel rates against him this year. He needs that missing velo.
1:20
He has been trending in the right direction fwiw. Averaging 99.1-mph over his last 9 appearances.

In a standard 5X5 AL-only roto league, would you rather have Logan Allen or Shane Bieber for the rest of the season?  Are you worried about Bieber’s diminished Ks?
Brad Johnson
1:22
Yes, super worried. He's trending towards a young version of Zack Greinke where the ability to retire hitters is still there based on preternatural command and savvy. But the stuff just isn't very good anymore.
His best fastball (2020) was like a 50-grade pitch. He was always all about breaking ball command.
This current fastball is a 30.
