I honestly wouldn't know how to compare him to Clark or Langford. I don't really watch college ball. I've yet to see Clark play at all. Langford, I've at least seen the highlights.

What kind of trade value does Trout have in a keeper league? Injured star on the wrong side of 30 doesn’t really instill much confidence.
Brad Johnson
2:13
It's tricky. In a 20-teamer, the first place team wanted Aaron Civale's two start week. Was offering prospects like Chase Hampton. I put some thought into offering Civale and Ketel Marte for his injured Trout. Decided against it.
(I also happen to know he'd say no, no matter how much sense it made for him)

I did post a note about roster spots at the beginning of the season, but it's happened again here and there. I'm torn between not wanting to say anything and wanting to point it out to give him a hard time!

Try reposting that then

Should I sell high on Blake Snell or hang on to him?
Brad Johnson
2:15
Depends on your needs. At any given time, Snell is usually the best non-deGrom answer to "who can give me a 1.00 ERA and 14.00 K/9 over the next 5 starts"
If you need that kind of burst, you keep him. If you can capitalize on somebody else needing it, then go ahead and capitalize.

Cowser worth a flier? 10 team AL-only league and the options are bleak
Brad Johnson
2:16
In that format, yes. He could make the adjustment. I think he's selling out for quantity of contact at cost of quality contact.

Better ROS - De la Cruz or Carroll?
Brad Johnson
2:16
I'll guess Carroll, but don't hold me to it. Both could be Top 1 ROS.

re: Hardest spot to fill in dynasty. It's pitching. It's always pitching because injuries so often turn your heroes into zeros. I believe in that so strongly that I don't ever really even chase pitching prospects at all, preferring to stock up on hitters and trading for pitchers once the are fully formed.
Volpe or Jackson Merrill
2:17
In a keepers league, do you think Volpe will turn things around?  I already have Franco on my team and am looking for future use.  Jackson Merrill is available and think he might have some real value in the future while I'm getting frustrated with Volpe's start.
Brad Johnson
2:17
I don't see it happening this year, but I do think Volpe will be a nice fantasy asset. Likely better than Merrill.
2:18
But! If you can get something that helps you win now for Volpe then also roster Merrill, I'd feel really good about that.

Everytime I read something on Moniak, it says he's due for regression and nobody is giving him credit for hitting over .300 with counting stats. And yet every night I look at his stat line and he's a positive for me. I'm riding, don't care what the stat nerds say.
Brad Johnson
2:18
Cool.
2:19
I love these sorts of takes. I don't mean to call you out here James, but you did submit a comment.
What the "stat nerds" are supplying is evidence-based analysis.
2:20
Some players can escape the vortex of regression to the mean - usually guys who succeed for reasons we aren't measuring. In Moniak's case, I believe he's succeeding because the scouting report is wrong.
2:21
Nobody has his whiff rate and hits for average. It doesn't happen. Something will give. Likely, everything gives and he emerges as a 90 wRC+ guy with pop and too many whiffs.
Evidence based analysis?
