Gimme the Semien side unless I really need a C and CL gamble.

Have the Orioles missed the boat by letting the top pitchers go to other teams?  Scherzer, Montgomery, etc?
Brad Johnson

I think so, yes. Especially since they went at affordable prices. The one thing we don't know is what teams asked of the O's. Sometimes, having an embarrassment of riches can work against you.
2:02
You ever notice that? Somebody asks you for Jackson Chourio or Jackson Holliday for their win-now piece. You counter with Adael Amador and then they turn around and trade their guy for Jordan Westburg. Even though Amador is consensus > Westburg.

Is Byron Buxton droppable at this point (specifically in am OBP 12 team OBP league)? He’s hit below .200 the past two months, and just eclipsed it for July to date, and although he will have big games from time to time, I’m his inconsistency is killing me at this point.
Brad Johnson
2:03
I don't think I've watched a Buxton PA in the last 2 months so I can only comment on the stats. He's still producing spicy EVs. I think it's a matter of your power needs. If I had to make a 10 player list of "likeliest to lead MLB in HR ROS," Buxton would be on it.
Who?
2:04
Maybe not great to admit, but I'm not familiar with Christopher Sanchez. Just added him yesterday. What kind of pitcher is he? Can I trust him in my playoff matchups (first round begins today)? Thanks!
Brad Johnson
2:05
Trust is not a word I like using with pitchers, especially in the year 128 of our Lord and Sultan.
2:07
I can give you a report tho... LHP, big GB-rates, some command issues as is often the case with GB guys. It's kind of the OG Framber Valdez starter kit (before he got good). Slider isn't nearly as good. Solid changeup, can keep RHH honest with it. Extremely BABIP-reliant for success.
2:09
I really like him as an ultra-deep dynasty dart throw. This is a profile which can spontaneously ace if they find command and a whiff-inducing pitch that tunnels with their sinker.
As for using him now, you have to assess if your team is more of a quantity or quality pitcher unit.
Joe Ryan
2:09
Could you shed some light on Joe Ryan? Can we trust him going forward? The K's are nice, but he's been hurting me in era and whip for a while now
Brad Johnson
2:09
Speaking of not using trust with pitchers...
2:11
I think he's just had some regression games. He's a pitching profile that *should* be susceptible to home runs. We're in the homer-happy months. I'd consider shelving him until September unless you need K's.
He's still drawing whiffs. His velo is barely down. I don't think anything is "wrong" besides him being naturally homer-prone.

Rank the following rookie pitchers in a keeper league:
Rank the following pitchers long term in a keeper league - Tanner Bibee, Logan Allen, Bryan Woo.
Brad Johnson
2:13
Bibee, Woo, Allen. Bibee's the only one I think is a true SP.
Woo is the sort of high leverage reliever who can be used as a backend starter at need. Might even have some good seasons in him like Michael Fulmer or Bud Norris back in the day.
Allen is more of a spot starter in my book.
2:14
He could play up in relief, but I don't want to call him high leverage with his current velo.
2:15
The list of high-leverage RP sitting 91-92 makes for quick reading.

Would you put T. O'Neill on for J. D. Martinez this week since JMart has an MRI scheduled on his hammy?
Brad Johnson
2:15
Good question. Either choice is justifiable. I'd lean yes.
2:16
I generally don't regret choosing health over not-health, even when it backfires. Still feels like good process, bad result absent more info.

Thoughts on Nico Hoerner for Robert Gasser and Connor Phillips
Brad Johnson
2:17
Like irl? I don't want anything to do with that in fantasy. Gasser doesn't read like an instant gratification guy (not that ANYBODY has a good track record of figuring those out ahead of time). Phillips doesn't even read as a sure-fire MLBer, at least not as a starter. He could be a nice RP of the middle variety.
2:18
re: Phillips, I know the surface level stats look nice, but it's a bad look when a pitcher is BABIP and HR-prone in Double-A. Even when they have 15.45 K/9. It's a sign they're doing something very exploitable by better players.

In an AL-only league, are there names I should be looking at for saves post the trade deadline?
Brad Johnson
2:21
Santos is the one to jump on right now. Carlos Hernandez is already easing into saves. The A's should either find a taker or demote/cut Trevor May. I guess Sam Moll is next in line? Maybe Lucas Erceg or Austin Pruitt. None of those are guys you really WANT to be using in fantasy.
And when all else fails, pick up a Ray.
2:23
There's some merit to grabbing Bryan Abreu and hoping Ryan Pressly has his annual IL-stint soon. Even then, Neris or Graveman might get the saves even though Abreu is probably a top-10 or 15 RP leaguewide.

Is either Bethancourt ($1) or Langeliers ($11) a keeper in an AL OBP league?
Brad Johnson
2:23
Both no's for me

Is Jose Urquidy worth a pickup in advance of coming off the IL? What are some pitchers you might compare him to in ROS ranking?
Brad Johnson
2:24
I've never much liked pitchers of Urquidy's profile. Depends too much on sharpness of command to create luck. I wouldn't want him coming off a shoulder injury, but there are certainly situations when the gamble makes sense.
As for a comp...
2:27
Like, if Marcus Stroman inversed his GB/FB rates. Ditto Kyle Gibson.
Went through all the qualified pitchers and Trevor Williams is the tightest profile comp (not very similar tho...)

Will Andres Munoz ever become a full-time coser, or is he doomed to be a stopped?
