I'm sure the A's have someone I *should* like, I just don't know who
Annnnd Matt Brash will get saves next year. Not all of them. Just some.

NL only keeper, please rank in order of stash value for 2024: Tylor Megill, Carlos Carrasco, Ryne Nelson, Gavin Stone, Emmet Sheehan, Luis Ortiz.
Brad Johnson
1:30
Ooh, I'm OUT on most of these guys. I'd throw a dart at Carrasco and the Dodger pair. Probably Sheehan, Carrasco, Stone, /ignore
1:31
And, I don't really see a lot coming from Stone. More of a warm body type.

Is Schneider (Toronto) worth holding onto?
Brad Johnson
1:31
For the moment. I think the party will be shortlived, but he could turn out to be a new Cronenworth.

Thanks for doing these chats!! What is Your opinion on Yanier Diaz and can you PLEASE give us some Diamonds in the rough that are not on MLB Top 150 list - Thanks Again

I like Diaz as a growth asset, but he could go the way of Jorge Alfaro.
His swing and hefty barrel rate are great for MinuteMaid
1:33
The lack of discipline could ruin him
I think he's an easy top 10 fantasy catcher going forward, just need to be aware of the risk and prepared for long slumps
1:34
Now.. lemme pull up FanTrax rankings to see who's outside the Top 150
I don't really think of guys in terms of "rank"
1:35
I assume you don't want to hear about Machado and the like.
1:36
Corey Seager is having a beast mode season but keeps missing time. If that missed time is being priced into his valuation, he's one of the best players you can target.
Basically, better Freddie Freeman as a SS right now
I haven't given up on Realmuto finding himself. He's a grinder.
1:37
I'm a sucker for Ranger Suarez. Love the profile. Betting on Phillies BABIP help is... fraught.
Eugenio Suarez is one of the best power hitters since the start of June or July (forget which)
1:38
Jake Burger makes some of the best contact aside from Aaron Judge - unfortunately, he has no discipline
Raisel is a solid buy-low CL with tons of opps.
1:39
enough? I'm going to say that's enough.
rest of the season
1:39
please list any players who have yet to be called up who could still make an impact this year, esp pitchers?
Brad Johnson
1:39
Y'all are really testing me today
1:43
Jonathan Aranda, Estevan Florial, Heston Kjerstad/Kyle Stowers/Coby Mayo (1), Robert Gasser, Allan Winnans, Brant Hurter, Dominic Hamel, Jackson Wolf
1:44
A couple of those pitchers are deep cuts for orgs that need warm bodies

A lot of good young arms on display these days! Sticking with the AL, how do you rank the following for best-chance-to-succeed next year among Bibee, G-Rod, Brown, Sears,Miller, Silseth, Allen & Ober?
Brad Johnson
1:46
Tough list, I'll be honest, I'll want time to digest in the offseason before deciding who I prefer for 2024. I think Bibee/Brown/Ober/Miller have the best understanding of who they are. Sears is more of pitchability guy. That tends to be inconsistent year to year.

Healthy T..

I'm glad for you

Healthy T. O'Neill or questionable J. D. Martinez this week?
Brad Johnson
1:49
Honestly, I've not paid close enough attention to their issues since they don't affect any of my rosters. I would not have an authoritative answer within 5 minutes. My instinct is JDM tho... hasn't he been playing hurt all year?

Brad,  thanks as always for these chats... Your column today about development was FANTASTIC... this starts to answer a question I asked Tim D. a few years ago.  Could you go a little deeper about which teams are currently at the top of their game in development (as far as you can tell)?  Sad thing is, I am in a deep AL-ony keeper league and am sitting on Neto and Quero... Oh well!
Brad Johnson
1:50
Hey, nothing to worry about with Neto. He can handle himself!
1:51
This is a point I forgot to make in the column - I'm more interested in discovering who is bad at something. In this case, player dev. When you identify the "bads" it crosses off a lot of names and lets you focus on what you believe is most meaningful.
1:52
Which is my roundabout way of saying I don't worry about who is considered "good" at dev because that's constantly changing. I want to know to ignore Marco Vargas (Marlins hitting dev is poor) until the exact moment he's traded to the Mets (Mets hitting dev is solid or better).
1:53
The teams that are bad tend to stay bad for structural reasons.
For one, it's just hard to modernize. It's expensive. The teams that found their way to the bottom are the ones who weren't spending in the first place so they're unlikely to suddenly change their tune.
1:54
The Orioles are the exception rather than the rule.
