That said, yes, he's matriculated through the system while reaching the high end of his expected outcomes.
I think he's going to have serious growing pains at first in the Majors, but he looks like a long-term MLBer to me.
1:56
My one concern is the Yankees just can't seem to finish their guys
Kinda want to see him get traded

Last Q in the queue
Curious

Just asking for small look behind the curtain. How many leagues do professionals like you play in? Where do you find these leagues? How high are the (monetary) stakes, if you don’t mind me asking? Do you play in multiple formats? And just how high is the level of competition?

Historically, I played between 12 and 20 leagues while also playing DFS every day. I'm on my way out though so I'm down to 6 leagues with no DFS this year.
1:59
Next year, I'll have 4, all dynasty. Early in my career, I played pretty much every form of fantasy. The one I skipped was AL/NL only since it doesn't interest me, and it's not difficult to understand without play. It's just like playing 20-team mixed redraft.
2:00
A lot of the leagues I played are "industry" which means you're against very good players who aren't necessarily paying any attention.
2:01
The exceptions to that are Tout and LABR which are highly competitive. I've done well in Tout. Never did get an invite to LABR...
2:02
As for stakes, everything from free to $500 entries.

On your way out?
Brad Johnson
2:05
Yea, I wrote professionally for a decade. COVID, lockout, and sportsbetting have ruined it for me. That's on me, not complaining or anything. Had to use all my reserves to get through COVID/lockout, and I refuse to write about sportsbetting. Mostly because I think it's un-fun. I also don't want to promote gambling addiction, but that didn't stop me from writing DFS...
2:06
Now I'm just doing once a week with MLBTR and slowly winding down my contacts. If one were to study my chat responses, they'd notice the "I don't knows" are going up in frequency. Especially since I answer everyone in these subscriber chats.

Yes. More of a general observation regarding the Yankees and prospects that impact fantasy teams. There’s a myth that the Yankees don’t promote prospects. Their issue is development of position prospects once they arrive.

It's such a tough environment. The northeast journalists and fans don't realize  how much player value they destroy.
2:08
There does seem to be a benefit to all that, of course. The guys who make it through the crucible play up under pressure.

When selecting players from here out, would you use ROS projections from a site or look mostly at the players last 4-6 weeks production?
Brad Johnson
2:09
Between those two options, I prefer projections. Especially from something that updates like THE BAT.
Mostly, I'll use recent or projected performance to build a shortlist. Then I custom analyze each player and how they might fit my needs.
2:10
But, you'll get 85% of the way there just with the projections.

Blackburn, Ragans, Skubal & Irvin. Rank for ROS if only concerned about ERA.
Brad Johnson
2:10
Skubal, uhhhh
Ragans, Irvin, Blackburn
Ragans could easily post a 7.00 ERA ROS, but he at least has some things going for him beyond smoke and mirrors.

ROS, AL-Only, With Y. Cano, C. Alvarez, and A. Munoz, how many saves do you think I might reasonable estimate?
Brad Johnson
2:11
About 15.
2:12
A good closer is about 7/mo on average. Though they can go as high as 12-14. Saves come in bunches sometimes. Those guys you listed have some mitigating circumstances so they're more like 5/mo on average.
2:13
And we have a month and a few days remaining
You could get as lucky as 25. Or under 10. Saves are a bitch, huh?
And on that note...
