Howdy, we'll get started momentarily.

Ronny Mauricio or Nolan Gorman this week?
Brad Johnson
1:02
I'd go with Gorman personally. If stolen bases are a your biggest need, shift to Mauricio.

Hi Brad. Curious in what order you would project these young SPs as far as anticipated performance level for 2024. Andrew Abbott, Tanner Bibee, Brandon Pfaadt, and Gavin Williams. Thanks.
Brad Johnson
1:03
I like Williams the most of that group. Probably Bibee next. I don't dislike Abbott and Pfaadt, but they're the laggards imo.
notably, I'm probably lowest in the "industry" on Abbott.
1:04
Give me an opportunity to avoid a fly ball pitcher at GABP, and I'll take it.
I’m a believer
1:04
RIP Steve Harrell.  But when it comes to Jacob Young, I am a believer.  70 speed.  Great defense.  Whether Nats trade or keep Lane Thomas, I think Jacob Young should get 300-plus at bats for Nationals in 2024.  Give me your percentage likelihood that he gets that much play in the show next year.  And any other thoughts you have relating to him, Lane, Victor, Wood, Hassel and Green, the latter two who will surely start 2024 in the minors.
Brad Johnson
1:07
I view Young as a Quad-A type personally. I won't pretend to have a handle on the Nats OF plans for 2024. Robles should be gone. Thomas is a nontender candidate. They've been using Blankenhorn pretty regularly - and he has more interesting traits than Young.
1:08
From a fantasy perspective, I see the appeal of hoping Young gets run time. He has an old school contact/discipline/speed profile that might be fun at the time of a lineup.
There just isn't enough impact with the bat to project him as a regular.
1:09
Maybe he winds up as an even cheaper Esteury Ruiz. That's the upshot.
Ruiz's numbers/peripherals are pretty horrible fwiw.
Outside of fantasy contexts
Question Mark
1:10
Is Henry Davis back before the season is over?  Is he worth a hold in a holds league? Is he better than Endy Rodriguez?
Brad Johnson
1:11
Well, I assume you're asking this as a catcher question. Davis is uncertain to return this year. Sounds 50/50 to me. I think he's a year or three from really clicking as a MLBer, and it seems like he's done as a catcher. He will lose eligibility over the winter in most formats.
I consider Endy better right now and through 2024. We'll need to revisit this one often to reassess.

Keaton Winn, SF P.  I don't know much about him.  What's your take?
Brad Johnson
1:12
I'll be honest, he isn't someone I've tracked. My reports say low leverage middle reliever.
1:14
He's a splitter specialist, those are the hardest prospects to assess since minor leaguers basically can't hit good splitters.
1:15
I dunno, he's interesting. Shoot a flier if it makes sense in your format. I don't have any special insights beyond that it's unlikely he remains a starter.
Hey Now Heaney
1:15
Heaney (@CLE, unless he's in the bullpen now?) or Littel (@MIN, maybe BAL) for the week?
Brad Johnson
1:16
@CLE is a solid spot for Heaney. I think I lean Littel though.

I'm going to have to roll with either Alex Cobb or Chris Sale this week (not ideal).  Who do you prefer?
Brad Johnson
1:18
It's been a bumpy ride with Cobb, but I think he's pretty clearly the better pitcher. Plus, two starts right? Sale's the better source of K/9, but that's rarely relevant in fantasy.
Next year
1:18
Looking to next year. How would you prioritize the following pitchers in a traditional roto league: Tanner Houck, Tanner Bibee, Mike Clevinger, Gavin Williams, Matt Manning, Garrett Whitlock. Thanks.
Brad Johnson
1:19
I really like Houck as a guy to follow until he breaks out. I'm not enthusiastic about him as I was Framber Valdez back in the day, but it's the same general approach.
I'd probably order that list something like Williams, Bibee, Houck, Whitlock, /ignore
1:20
Clevinger just isn't good (and he's a rumored to be unpleasant)
Manning... I dunno... I think we all got that prospectdom really wrong.
1:21
He had a pretty substantial breakout and still needs two more to become relevant. I'd give up and put him in the bullpen now were I running the Tigers.
(and not even expecting him to give leveraged innings)
Clase Closed
1:21
I've suddenly built a 20-point lead in saves. Should I cut someone like Clase or Romano for a streamer (Littel, Bello) if what I need is WHIP and Wins?
Brad Johnson
1:22
Streaming is almost never going to help your WHIP.
1:23
Absolutely don't cut Clase
Romano's a little off his game imo so you could think about that move. Be sure you're not helping someone down the standings catch you in the overall by releasing him.
RAGBRAI
1:24
Is Quintana worth an add for his two starts (AZ/CIN) if I need wins or am I better off just adding a RP? The WW is pretty empty at this time of year and Q has been pitching better of late.
Brad Johnson
1:24
Yea, I think I'd take a shot on that. It's risky, but that's the game, right? You know better than me if your roster/situation merits a risk.
1:25
It's a short queue today, just 2 questions remaining. So feel free to ask more.
Nelson Velazquez
1:25
I've loved Velazquez's homer binge, but I'm now starting Wallner or Schneider over him in OBP league. Should I cut for a spot starter (Littel) if I need WHIP/Wins?
