I love the new Skubal. I think he's a Top 10 SP or close to it.

McLain is coming off the IL soon, my MIs are Estrada, Giminez, and Bogaerts. My coldest players atm are Bregman and Alonso. The only pick-ups I expect to make this final week is pitching and I'm having a hard timing figuring out how to get McLain on the team. Is 5 days of him worth keeping?
Brad Johnson
1:26
I prefer the healthy McLain to those 3 MI, but I have no idea if we'll see him play a day or all five or if he'll be coated in rust.
I think it's another "what do you need" decision.
McLain is capable of doing more of everything than Estrada/Gimenez/Bogaerts
1:27
But there might be specific reasons to prefer each of them to him

Have you ever capitalized on huge hype for a trade that ended up feeling like a fleece job? I know this season I somehow perfectly timed trading Christopher Morel where it processed immediately after he hit is 9th homer in 12 games and then went dead quiet.
Brad Johnson
1:27
Definitely. I've also been on the other side though, so I don't feel bad when it happens.

What do you take on Kjerdtad next year? Would he starting and stay in the show next year? Would it be a gamble to set him as a keeper?
Brad Johnson
1:29
Yea, it's a gamble. He's not "can't miss." He'll get a chance to win a starting job out of Spring Training, and then he'll get a chance to keep it. Avoiding deep slumps will ultimately answer if he keeps the job. Unfortunately, he profiles as a volatile hitter so slumps are part of the territory.

Thoughts on Ty Black for 2024? Is he worth a stash in dynasty?
Brad Johnson
1:29
I tried to answer that for myself this week. Somebody nominated him in an ottoneu league and I won for $2.
1:30
It depends on the depth of your league. I think we'll see him in a Jace Peterson type of role.

Thoughts on fantasy baseball twitter drama? Have you ever considered making a heel turn and becoming a fantasy baseball bad boy? smiling_imp
Brad Johnson
1:31
I'm not? I take it you missed the NFBC episode back in 2020.
1:32
Honestly, I'm as provocative as I'm capable of being. I mostly just wander around not understanding why everybody is group thinking about such and such.

i'm in a long time keeper league(2 keepers) and have had mike trout since his rookie season.  i'm thinking it might be time to let him go but my other options are limited, with royce lewis the only other reasonable second keeper.  am i crazy to be considering that?  does lewis have that sort of upside?
Brad Johnson
1:33
I mean, he's not Trout, but it's definitely a tempting proposition. Hopefully you don't have to decide until after we find out if Trout is traded.

Is Evan Carter doing anything that makes you think more highly than precallup?
Brad Johnson
1:35
No, the HR rate is fluky. I'm actually a little peeved about the Ks. Everything else is as expected. High floor, low ceiling.

I have Tatis so I need a SS for next year in a 12 team dynasty league. I was looking at Zach Neto. Do you have any other recommendations I should consider?
Brad Johnson
1:35
Can lean in the direction of prospects. Neto is solid though.
1:36
Since it's 12 team and like 60 regulars have SS eligibility, I wouldn't fret too much about specific bandaids.
1:37
You know the names to target as current peak guys. You could try to buy low on Cruz or De La Cruz.
(just don't plan to succeed)
J.P. Crawford's breakout is "real" in terms of backup plans.

Chances of a Wyatt Langford call up this season?
Brad Johnson
1:38
I'm thinking doubtful, but I'm wavering on him the way I did with Caminero. It's possible but not guaranteed.
1:39
The PCL championship is Tuesday-Thursday. Langford will try to do his thing and then maybe carry it up to the Majors. We'll see.

Whats the feel for Devers?
Brad Johnson
1:41
What do you mean? I'm thinking hold another couple years then try to trade around age 28 in dynasty. He probably goes later than normal in redraft next year, but that's only because new guys are passing him. He's not declining yet.

6 trades in the final week…. Do you usually use them to stream pitchers?  How many extra bench hitters do you carry?   I currently have one?
Load up on Colorado hitters for my trades this week or use the trades to stream pitchers?
Brad Johnson

I assume this is the same Guest and that these trades are waiver moves. This is always highly situational. What categories are you trying to improve/protect. What does your rival need. Some years, my moves are for players I have no intent to use. Sometimes, I'm bulking up on Ks. Sometimes I'm protecting pitching ratios and need SBs. Your needs determine how to play it.

Do you think closer by committee is the future in fantasy baseball?  Would this add more value to the "closers" such as Diaz of the Mets
Brad Johnson
1:43
We're already living in this reality. That's why the NFBC crowd drafts the top closers starting around pick 20

What are some possible trade packages for Salvador Perez for a dynasty league? I’m having a tough time gauging his value at the moment.
Brad Johnson
1:44
I'm having difficulty imagining a format where he has notable value.
You might be able to get something like Tyler Black. Nick Loftin? Somebody young with a lot of bust risk.
Could try Jo Adell maybe?
