Some of the best exceptions are Ji-hwan Bae, Oneil Cruz, Jarren Duran, and Jeter Downs
KC3
12:39
Reports are the red sox called up Jeter Downs, where does he play? kind of production we can expect?
Brad Johnson
12:40
Speaking of Downs, he's really fallen apart at the plate since the Red Sox acquired him. There's a Dylan Moore flavor to him in that he has a lot of power and speed. But he's also batting .180/.297/.397 in Triple-A - not exactly an inspiring sign of readiness.
Pickup Line
12:40
I see the Ken Giles just got reinstated.  Worth picking up?
Brad Johnson
12:41
A flier wouldn't hurt - there's a chance he's closing in short order. But...
12:42
Giles is historically very streaky, and he pitched poorly while on rehab. It wasn't quite a maximum assignment. Maybe they think he's ready?

I love fantasy sports and baseball specifically, but I’m feeling burned out by the grind of it all. The daily setting of lineups and scouring the waiver wire. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Other than completely stepping away.
Brad Johnson
12:43
You can try some formats that rely less on daily lineups and waivers. Draft and Hold or Bestball leave you to play what you draft. Also gives you a chance to research super-deep on the draft side which can be fun.
12:44
Weekly lineup leagues with weekly FAAB could also help with the burn.
Personally, the FAAB process burns me out just thinking about it, but many folks swear by it.

Think Castellanos ever heats up? Tempted to move him for Luis Severino straight up...
Brad Johnson
12:44
Yes, I do. But that's also a fair trade if you need pitching.

12:45
What do you make of the Esteury Ruiz kid in SD? Those numbers are VIDEO-GAMEY!
Brad Johnson
12:45
You mean the .536 BABIP-fueled Triple-A performance? Or the 37 SB in 232 PA at Double-A?
12:46
Well, I'm not entirely sure tbh
FanGraphs ranked him 25th in the Padres system. In May. So they had the benefit of seeing him flourishing and were still down on him.
12:47
For fantasy purposes, the mix of power and speed is tantalizing
12:48
There's early-Adalberto Mondesi vibes here with all kinds of caveats attached.
In short, I want to acquire him in dynasty, but I don't necessarily want to pay a ton

12:48
what is blake snell’s fantasy value right now?
Brad Johnson
12:49
Well, it depends on the format. I'm pretty bullish about him being a strong buy right now.
I think something like a 3.70 ERA going forward with 1.25 WHIP and plenty of Ks/run support

12:50
Can Julio Rodriguez keep this production up? Or is he a perfect sell high candidate?
Brad Johnson
12:51
I think this is pretty close to his floor. The one thing I'm not convinced about are the stolen bases. He has 18 already, and I think he's more of a 20-25 per 600 PA pace guy.
Which is plenty good with the rest of his profile.
12:52
As always, it comes down to the offer. Because of his steals, you should basically have your pick of any player on the SB-neediest team in your league.
Dropstitch
12:52
Now that Seattle DFAd Sergio Romo and Roenis Elias, do you hold them waiting for someone to pick them up, or drop them?
Brad Johnson
12:53
I almost can't imagine a format where you'd roster them tbh. 20-team AL Only? I'd move on.
Assuming a normalish format using holds, there are better options out there. Connor Brogdon for instance.
JC
12:54
Contreras (ATL) or Kirk this week? Flaherty, Blackburn, Gallen or Tailion this week?
Brad Johnson
12:54
Always Kirk. Contreras had a cool hot streak, but the Braves still start TdA most days. And Contreras's batted ball profile doesn't support the HR totals he's shown.
Man o Manoah
12:55
Al Only OBP, would you swap JD Martinez for Alek Manoah or Dylan Cease, even if your pitching is doing a little better than your hitting?
Brad Johnson
12:55
Well... it sounds like a fair trade to me, but it also sounds like you need to have a plan for replacing/upgrading JDM.
Help!
12:55
I need to pick one & expose the other to my league to acquire - Adell or Josh Lowe?
Brad Johnson
12:56
I'd hold Adell.
Jeremy
12:56
AJ Puk or Jason Adam for saves going forward?
Brad Johnson
12:56
I like Puk more for saves. The A's don't seem like they want to try Puk at SP anymore for health reasons. So they have every incentive to get him into the closer role post-deadline.
12:57
Adam probably takes 10-20% of the Rays saves.
Wincing in Advance
12:57
hi Brad, please rank Civale, Eflin and Otto ROS in 5x5 mixed league. Thanks again.
Brad Johnson
12:58
I think you've got it. Obviously, I'd like to see Civale pitch in the Majors again before giving a firm recommendation. Seems like Eflin might land on the IL for a quick stay.
