Fantasy Baseball Chat with Brad Johnson: 6/6/22

Brad Johnson

Pretty much, ERA should settle in the 3.60-3.80 range most of the time with occasional hot/cold streaks below/above.
Jason Kendall
1:05
Sam Huff v Ivan Herrera - which C Prospect holds more value long term?
Brad Johnson
1:05
Ivan
1:06
Huff's a longshot to stick. Defensive reports are mixed and the bat is Gary Sanchez-ish with more emphasis on his weaknesses.
Chase
1:06
Would you burn a roster spot on Vinnie Pasquantino?
Brad Johnson
1:06
Without having more context, now is a good time to stash him.
Mr Roto
1:06
Is Roansy Contreras worth an add in a 10 team league?
Brad Johnson
1:06
I think he's probably somewhere around the last full-time rostered SP or the first streamer.
1:07
I don't actually have any 10-team leagues so I sometimes mistake where replacement level is.
Time for me to start wrapping up
Sammy Sooser AND Mike McGwire
1:07
Willie Calhoun got his freedom from the Rangers. Why is this organization so bad at developing MLB ready bats?
Brad Johnson
1:08
I don't know specifically why, but my scouting contacts from several orgs and writing outlets all routinely laugh at them
1:09
Anytime you get scouts with any kind of fantasy interest together, one of the first topics to come up is "Bottom 5 dev orgs." Rangers are always on the list.
For Calhoun specifically, it sounds like they have a single hitting philosophy and they want all the square pegs in the round holes.
Broken Bat
1:10
Contreras and Hendrix for Adell? Fair.
Brad Johnson
1:11
There are several Contreri and I assume you're talking about Liam Hendriks or Kyle Hendricks rather than Ryan Hendrix.
1:12
I also assume this is some kind of dynasty. In which case, yea, you can shoot at Adell's incredible upside if you believe in him. He's so hot and cold that you can probably get better value later.
If it's redraft, it's very unlikely Adell will outperform Hendriks.
Judge for Tatis?
1:12
Should I trade Judge for Tatis right now in a keeper league? I don't know if Judge can sustain this production.
Brad Johnson
1:13
Ooh, that is tempting. I think you should be getting a tiny something in return.
Might make sense if you're drawing dead. If contending, I'd be wary about handing that production off to a competitor.
Pedro Leon
1:13
Thoughts on Leon dynasty?  Astros CF of future or trade bait to another team where he could get regular playing time?
Brad Johnson
1:14
Scouts really don't seem to like him. Not sure they'll get the valuation they want to bother moving him.
1:15
The potential for 20/20ish or better production makes him a tempting lotto ticket in dynasty
1:16
The bust rate should be considered to be larger than the typical hyped prospect with his production.
Prospects!
1:16
Who are the other 5? Rockies and....
Brad Johnson
1:17
Bottom 5? Rockies are always first listed. Mets and Phillies are usually on the list. At least one of them. A's, Nats, sometimes the Angels also come up
1:18
Nats usually come with a side argument about whether or not Soto developed because of or in spite of their dev.
Rally Monkey
1:18
What kind of pitcher would Jeremy Peña fetch?
Brad Johnson
1:19
Someone good with a flaw. Luis Castillo (plays for Reds), Jameson Taillon (low K-rate, home bandbox), Frankie Montas, Framber Valdez
guys of that ilk
Freddy P
1:19
Am I worth a $10 keeper price in a QS dynasty league?
Brad Johnson
1:20
Yea, barring setbacks
MG
1:20
Y Alvarez or Manoah and Pena (Dynasty league 6x6 cat scoring)
Brad Johnson
1:20
I'd go with Alvarez, but it's a fair swap
KC3
1:20
Is this Dansby streak for real? Or will he revert back to his high K ways in the coming months. Id love to have him around .260-.270 with the 20-25 HRs he's going to hit, but last year he plummeted down the stretch
Brad Johnson
1:21
The real Dansby is streaky. He's been this way for years. Which is an upgrade on when he was just reliably bad. Maybe one of these times he gets hot and never stops? Probably not.
Kenny
1:21
Would you trade JD Martinez, Joe Barlow, and Patrick Sandoval for Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Eric Lauer?
Brad Johnson
1:21
Immediately.
Harris II and Schwarber for Castellanos
1:21
Fair?
