If Bello is starts Wednesday, is it a temporary call up to patch the Boston rotation or does he stick all year? What’s his upside?
Brad Johnson
11:26
He profiles like a right-handed version of Aaron Ashby. Less risk of walk-related disasters.
11:27
He's probably comparable to or better than Pivetta and Wacha. Sale and Eovaldi should be considered superior. I think he fits as a potential permanent addition to the rotation. They're talking about Whitlock rejoining the pen
11:28
Plan for it being a start-to-start kind of thing.
A's reset
11:28
How many years before the A's will be competitive again?
Brad Johnson
11:28
They typically retool over brief periods. Maybe 1-2 years. I don't see the personnel on hand to bail them out, but they've been here before and pulled it out.
11:29
Let's try to stick to fantasy questions.

*Didn’t mean to hit send on my last message*. I have Jake Cronenworth and he’s been disappointing. My currents SS are Willy Adames, Jeremy Peña and Oniel Cruz…should I try to acquire someone else?
Brad Johnson
11:29
No need in my opinion.
Those are good shortstops.

I picked up Joey Gallo a few weeks ago and have him on my bench hoping he will either figure it out or maybe get traded and then figure it out. Am I just kind of dumb or incredibly dumb?
Brad Johnson
11:29
It's not a bad play. In the past, we've seen him look utterly hopeless for months at a time then hit 10 home runs in eight days.
11:30
This is his longest period of hopelessness. I'd like to see a change of scenery, personally.

For dynasty, what is the upside for Torkelson?  Will he develop into a better hitter or are we looking at Khris Davis 2.0?
Brad Johnson
11:31
I kind of view him as sort of like a left-handed Andrew Vaughn. That comp mostly refers to the pedigree compared to merely solid actual production.
11:32
I still think he eventually gets to something like a .240/.350/.460 batting line in future seasons. 25-30 HR. Mid-lineup run production.

Torkelson is right handed
Brad Johnson
11:33
Very true. Riley Greene's the LHH. I get their handedness mixed up sometimes.
They're linked in my head...

11:33
how concerned should we be about nick yorke's struggles
Brad Johnson
11:33
Mildly. I tend to not worry too much about guys who have a lot of hype about their gamesmanship and makeup.
11:34
But I do think there's cause to worry from a fantasy perspective. He's trending more interesting irl than fantasy.

Would you drop any of Roasny, Kirby or Gore in the event Bello gets the call?
Brad Johnson
11:35
That's tough. I would not drop Kirby. I think the "smart" play is to hold Roansy and Gore too.
11:36
I like Bello more than Gore fwiw. I think there might be something off with him right now.
Fatigue or injury. Velo is down, walks up.

I was just offered this trade: I receive Andrew Benintendi and Javier Baez for Ketel Marte and Jake Cronenworth….who gets the better end of that deal?
Brad Johnson
11:37
I like the Marte/Croney side. But those are players I love. Benintendi and Baez are guys I avoid. I haven't had either on a roster for ages.
11:38
Marte has a balky hamstring so there's health risk.
He seems to be a slow healer
Steve
11:39
Should I hold onto Garrett Whitlock since the Red Sox stated he will go back to the pen?
Brad Johnson
11:39
I think he's more valuable as a reliever tbh
Probably same pace of wins, better rates.
11:40
Could also sneak into the closer picture. He's a better fit there long term than Houck who could still start in the future.

Who wins a 100 yard dash where you have to eat 5 hot dogs before you start, Usain bolt or joey Chestnut?
Brad Johnson
11:40
Ha! I'd guess Chestnut.
11:41
Figure Bolt is only around 4 seconds faster than Chestnut at the running. Chestnut might be 4 seconds faster than Bolt per hotdog
Bob
11:42
I could really use a hot bat. Thinking of dropping Winker. Do any of these guys feel like good adds in a 10T? Biggio, Hoerner, E Escobar, G Cooper, N Gorman, C Joe, J India
Brad Johnson
11:43
Depends on the category need. I'm a big fan of India as a growth asset. Not so sure he's immediately hot - he's shaking off rust right now.
Gorman is a random number generator. If you need power outcomes, he can high roll them.
