Brad Johnson

He's a clever runner so he should be a safe 15/15 threat for a couple more years at least even if he's not as fast as he used to be,.
Mike
12:30
Do you have any recommendations on some prospects to stash for a dynasty league?
Brad Johnson
12:31
Might be a little late. Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Chourio were the big growth guys this year who might have been affordable previously.
12:33
I'd need to know a lot more about your league depth. Folks say dynasty on here then go on to ask if they should pick Gleyber Torres or Jorge Polanco off the waiver wire. In that setting, you should not roster prospects for any purpose other than trading ASAP. So you're only looking at guys who are scorching hot and nationally renowned.
12:34
In truly deep formats, I've gotten good reports on Gleider Figuereo. One of the next big things that hasn't quite hit the radar the way Chourio has.

I have Cruz at SS in a dynasty league. I could pick up Gleyber Torres, Brendan Rodgers, Jorge Polanco or Javier Baez. Should I drop Cruz for one of then or hold due to his upside?
Brad Johnson
12:34
Since I referenced this one, I should probably answer it, huh?
12:35
If you have nothing to play for this year, I'd probably ride it out with Cruz. If you're competing and SBs aren't a category you need, I'd pivot to a streaming approach. Target whoever has the softest matchup that day.
12:36
In a league of this apparent depth, you'll always have access to "next big things"
12:37
And the winners will usually be the managers who pick up a bunch of vets and, on occasion, consolidate them into stars.
Houck
12:37
What do you see is his role next year? I’m hoping he is a closer, I traded for him anticipating saves then he went down a few weeks later.
Brad Johnson
12:37
I don't think the Red Sox know tbh.
I expect he'll enter camp as a starter, and they'll hope to see some growth in either command or secondary offerings.
12:38
If neither is improved, then he probably rejoins the pen in May or so.
12:39
Ditto Whitlock except he doesn't really have command or repertoire-based issues. He just needs to learn how to use his stuff like a starter instead of like a reliever.

Drop L. Robert for C.Carroll? Robert missing to much time redraft weekly.
Brad Johnson
12:39
I'd look for another drop, but I could see this being an acceptable desperation play.
Massive risk, modest reward.

Which 3 players start in the Diamondbacks OF?  I read that McCarthy might be headed to the bench but he has been the hottest hitter of the group.
Brad Johnson
12:42
I expect them to rotate the four main guys around. Those being Carroll, Thomas, McCarthy, and Varsho. Varsho might also get more time at C.

I’ve kept Flaherty on IL all year. Going to have time to get stretched out as a starter?
Brad Johnson
12:43
Yea, he faced 22 batters last time out. He's stretched out.
The biggest question is if he'll be good enough to use in fantasy. That's unclear.
Trent Hewitt
12:43
Bo Naylor or Shea Langeliers for my future catcher?
Brad Johnson
12:43
Langeliers, easy
12:44
I've talked to a few scouting contacts about Naylor, and they aren't optimistic about him starting in the Majors.
12:45
That said, if Naylor does start, he's the rare catcher who steals. He's having a nice season too so maybe he upends the scouts.
12:46
Langeliers though is as close to can't miss as you can get. The profile is kind of Mike Zunino with a merely below average strikeout rate.
I suppose it would be cleaner to say power over hit
Mike
12:46
12 team dynasty. I’m thinking about dropping Cade Cavalli for Gavin Williams. Thoughts?
Brad Johnson
12:48
Eh, I don't think they're that different. Besides that Cavalli just reached the Majors and Williams won't for another year.
SOS ROS
12:48
Hi Brad, can you help me make some ROS decisions? Paredes or W. Myers? Smyly or Bradish? Luis Garcia or Z Jackson for saves only? Thanks again Brad.
Brad Johnson
12:48
I'd go Myers, Smyly, and Garcia
Mo Money Mozeliak
12:48
Should I drop Jose Iglesias for Jonathan India?
Brad Johnson
12:48
Yes
Iglesias has one category. India has five - albeit he's much worse in AVG than Iglesias.
Elehuris Montero
12:49
I have room for & need a 3B, should I grab him or wait for someone else like Baty, Jung, Mead, Vargas…….
Brad Johnson
12:49
Why not grab him now then try to get Jung or Mead if/when they're called?
Nick
12:49
does Gunnar get the call with the O’s before Sept 1 to be eligible for the playoff roster? If so, where you believe he’ll play? Heard he’s been moving all around the diamond at AAA recently.
Brad Johnson
12:50
They don't really need to call him up before 9/1 for him to be eligible. If they decide they want him in the postseason, they just have to move a guy on the 40-man roster to the 60-day IL. There's always somebody who fits the bill.
