The Orioles seem process obsessed. I'm not convinced they'll call him up at all. That said, I was entirely convinced the DBacks would not call upon Carroll so... what do I know?
JD

Need some sleeper OPS targets for my 12 team 6x6 roto league please!
Brad Johnson
12:52
Maybe this is too sleepy, but I'm liking the look of Mark Mathias, and the Rangers have an incentive to play him more than they have ROS
Scott
12:52
For next year at same cost- Volpe or Cruz?
Brad Johnson
12:52
Ooh, that's tricky because I don't have a good sense of when Volpe will arrive. Could be anywhere between Opening Day and next September.
12:53
I do think Volpe is the better fantasy asset if both are playing.
But I tend to be cautious so I'd lean Cruz on the assumption he'll be far likelier to contribute 600 PA
Angel face
12:53
We gave up Noah Syndergard in trade recently for Mickey Moniak.     He got hurt after joining the Angels.   How do you feel about his long term prospect for impact with the Angels?   He was the #1 pick in the draft in 2016.
Brad Johnson
12:54
He's a fifth-outfield type. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
12:55
I'm reminded of the time the Phillies traded for Mark Appel. Everybody outside of Philadelphia knew he wasn't more than a maybe middle reliever. But the Phillies briefly sold him to the fans as this great first overall pick they nabbed in trade (I think for Ken Giles)
12:56
Moniak's draft pedigree helps the Angels save face for simply dumping the rest of Thor's contract.
And I'm not criticizing the trade. I think a fifth outfielder for a couple months of Thor is about right.
12:57
I will say, Moniak found some unexpected power this spring before a slew of injuries held him out most of the year. Maybe there's something to redeem.

deep league, need a middle infielder for a bench role. jose iglesias or isaac paredes the rest of the way?
Brad Johnson
12:57
Iglesias if you're optimizing for AVG, Paredes otherwise.
Help me pick 1
12:57
Andres Gimenez or Esteury Ruiz to have on my bench for the rest of this year and as my starting 2B next year. I’m out of contention this year and will finish last in stolen bases but top 5 in a 14 team league in home runs, avg, rbi, runs.
Brad Johnson
12:58
Easily Gimenez. He should probably be starting. There aren't many better players this year.
lemme do something...
12:59
Here we go, unless you have Marcus Semien, Tommy Edman, or Jose Altuve, you should be starting Gimenez. https://www.fangraphs.com/auctiontool.aspx?type=2B&proj=2022&pos=2,1,1...

Am I missing something with Luis Campusano (San Diego)? He did just get called up for a short stint it seems, but he's spent the last 2 years hitting around .300/.360/.500 at AAA. Just unlucky that Alfaro managed to be decent this year or do the Padres really dislike the glove and/or hitting against MLB pitching that much?
Brad Johnson
1:00
I think they felt he had some developmental hurdles to clear and wasn't substantively better than Nola/Alfaro.
And Caratini last year.
1:01
I'm told teams almost always ask for him in trade talks, and Preller isn't shy about dealing guys away.
So, the fact that he's still there tells me they love him.
Jake

should i proactively snag hunter brown while waiting on verlander's mri?
Brad Johnson
1:02
If you have the spot to stash him, it wouldn't hurt just to see. But the likelier outcome is Cristian Javier rejoining the rotation.

In a deep 30-teamer dynasty, who do you think has the best upside long term between: Emerson Hancock (SEA), Ryan Pepiot (LAD), and Caleb Kilian (CHC)?
Brad Johnson
1:03
Upside, I'll take Pepiot. But there's also risk that he goes the way of Devin Williams which... isn't bad. Just not what you want.
I think Kilian is pretty safely going to be a solid guy. Which works in 30-team. I've been trying (and failing) to pick up shares in my deeper formats.
1:04
To be clear, the most-of-you playing 12-team mixed or similar don't need to worry too much about claiming Kilian until he proves he's halfway decent.
Skubal trouble?
1:05
Haven't heard anything on Skubal's prognosis for next season...
Brad Johnson
1:05
The procedure he had doesn't have a super long track record. The hope is he can be ready fairly early, but some other guys have taken over a year to get back in action.
1:06
You probably haven't heard a prognosis because it won't be accurate until much later in the rehab process.

You referenced Langeliers being as close to can't miss as you can get. Should I pick him up then even if I have Adley as my Catcher?
Brad Johnson
1:06
Oh... nonono.
Langeliers is can't miss in a boring empty 20-25 HR kind of way.
1:07
Adley is can't miss in an I'm a superstar kind or way
Let someone else deal with Langeliers

Surprised to see Mitchell get the call ahead of Esteury. Am I crazy to keep Esty on roster at this point? Keeper upside maybe?
Brad Johnson
1:07
I'm surprised to see Mitchell before Frelick personally.
