Fantasy Baseball Chat With Nicklaus Gaut

Nicklaus Gaut
10:58
Hello, friends
About to get going
Just put a pin in my most important task of setting my daughter's fielding rotation for their first game
10:59
Still have silver fingers from a PTO trivia night that went perfectly
11:00
But can you guess my name?
11:02
Clue #1: No sleeves required
Luzardo
11:02
When is the right time to sell high and turn him into an offensive player?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
If that's your eventual plan, now?
11:03
The downside/risk of Luzardo remains about what it's always been -- when's he going to get hurt?
I also understand gambling on him staying healthy but if you're going to sell anyway, don't push your luck if there's a good deal available now
Geno Suarez
11:04
He's been quietly terrible since that opening series. Is it time to abandon ship? Or will he turn around faster than he did in 2024?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
I wouldn't worry. He has been pretty junky lately but that's just part of the Eugenio experience.
11:05
streaks are going to happen and you better believe the second you bench him he'll do one of those 4-HR series

What you think 'bout Jordan Walker this year. 'Preciate your chats NG
Nicklaus Gaut
11:06
Pardon if my homer shows...but I love him.
deeply
post-hype sleeper train, baby!
11:07
we might be two weeks in but he's always had electric tools and is opening up with better EVs/fly ball rates than he's ever had
i think there is reason to be excited
11:08
or maybe I inhaled too many spray paint fumes this weekend
11:09
Clue #2: Wrench axe!
Roki
11:09
Is he worth rostering this year? LAD has so many options, him getting replaced for some AAA experience has to be on the table if he continues to be this mediocre right?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:10
Until he's actually sent down, yes
11:11
Looked way better last time out (even if it wasn't great) and clearly has the talent to provide good value on the MLB juggernaut Dodgers
Sultans of Swing
11:12
If you felt like your chances of winning were better playing 9 categories heavily and sacrificing one, which would you choose and why? (OBP instead of AVG, SV + 50% HOLDS instead of straight SV, the other 8 categories as normal; regular Roto scoring) Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:12
SV+50% HLDs
11:14
Even punting the actual category stats, you can still get plenty of value supplementing your SPs with RPs who can still provide good ratios even if they aren't necessarily high-leverage guys
Rae
11:14
How would you rank Toglia, Torkelson, India, Grisham, and Conforto rest of season?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
Toglia > Confortro > Torkelson > India > Grisham
I'm actually bullish on Grisham right now, though (got in FABB a couple times yesterday) because they're getting him in every day lately.
11:16
But it's too early to count on that playing time right now
Dave
11:17
Another deep AL-only league question: Lively or Kochanowicz?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:17
Lively
11:18
Not that I hate Kochanowicz, but I'm not sure you'd want his next two starts (@HOU, @TEX), even in AL-only
Rae
11:19
How would you rank Lodolo, Springs, Tylor Megill, C Schmidt and R Suarez rest of season?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:19
Springs, Megill, Lodolo, Schmidt, Ranger
11:20
How dare you force me to put my sweet Ranger last
Dave
11:20
Deep cut from my AL-only league.  I have Lenyn Sosa at 2B.  Massey is available and at least is getting regular at-bats.  Sosa looks like he might lose time to Brooks Baldwin.  Which of these three bottom of the barrel players would you choose?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Massey, all day
Torpedo'd Bats
11:20
I think Arizona's mediocre pitching pretty convincingly proved there's nothing to fear from the Yankee's "new" bats. Why do some fantasy formats insist on letting you know who they think are using them? Looking at Yahoo in particular here. Is there a way to use this to our advantage?
