Hello, friends
Apologies for being out last week - those six-year-olds weren't going to chaperone themselves
11:00
Let's get to it
Marlins
11:00
I maybe the only diehard Marlins fan here, but what does this deadline look like for us?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:00
Probably?

Fire-sale

Crystal ball - What do you see for the following NL pitchers: Casparius, Palencia, Mey, R Rodriguez?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:02
Casparius has been excellent, and will stay in his high-leverage role -but should return a lot of value even in non-hold leagues given how they use him for multiples
11:03
Palencia might be the closer now - got their last Save with Pressly (and his ugly ERA) on two games rest
Beano

The Pirates, not known for doing very much very well, seem to be giving a long rope to A Canario. Is Canario an actual building block with a future in the Pirates OF? Or is he just a place holder?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:04
His overall numbers are terrible but he's actually been pretty decent since they started playing him most of the time. Still hits the ball super hard but is still too much of a whiffer
11:05
I think he has a future in their OF but that's also relative to the quality they will accept

Do you think the Orioles epic failure thus far this season will lead to any institutional changes beyond Hyde and perhaps a front office shakeup? I am talking a philosophical shift.  I ask that understanding that there is usually a lot of inertia in baseball by teams who continually employ bad process (i.e. the Rockies). And second, what do you see as the biggest blind spot right now for the O’s?  Overvaluing prospects? Being cheap?  Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:06
  1. Doubtful - inertia is a hell of a drug, my friend.
Sincerely,
A Cardinals fan
2 Being too damn cheap and I don't think that's changing
Arizona "Pitching"
11:07
Is it time to cut bait on Gallen? Other arms Arizona has are fine as fringe pieces to a fantasy team, but Gallen has been atrocious so far.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
Besides being selective with how you start him, your options are limited, at this point, beyond selling him super cheap.
Prospects
11:10
In a redraft league, is it worth stashing Bubba Chandler and/or Jacob Misorowski? I thought one at least would be up by now.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:10
They're both worth a stash -- thought at least one would be up by now
and getting to wet your feet in the NL Central isn't a bad thing
Zen Moment
11:13
Michael Lorenzen has been only mid-cromulent as a streamer. Hold for vs CIN on Monday or take Cannon or Cameron instead?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:13
I rather have Lorenzen over either
Bryan
11:14
Even though Lawlar was raking in the minors and little left to prove, why bring him up to sit him. I believe Dbacks are messing with his confidence and he surly isn't going to succeed playing every three days. Thoughts?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
If you've read any previous chats, I've consistently thought they'd hold off on Lawlar because "surely they won't be so dumb as to bring him up without a regular spot to play"
And yet, here we are.
I get he's outgrown Triple-A but calling him up to start three of nine games?
Dumb
Buying low
11:16
Christian Walker or Shane Baz (al obp league)?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:17
Walker
I say no More(L)
11:17
Traded morel for baz in an AL Only. Mistake? I know you were out on Baz preseason, but it seemed cheap enough.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:17
I mean, I probably wouldn't have done it but that's just personal preference
It's a reasonable trade
Spit/Spot Starter
11:19
Could you pick a favorite or two from this morass who are above the RP threshold in an only league? Noah Cameron, Dobbins, Logan Evans, Lorenzen, Cannon, Kocahnowitz. Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Lorenzen is the safest but I also like Dobbins too
Guest
11:20
TSoder or Rhys ROS?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Rhys
A little Dob will do Ya
11:20
Hunter Dobbins: useful mlb pitcher or Lord of the Rings character? (In fact, some of his starts have been hobbit-length...)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Both!
Yordone
11:21
The Astros saying Yordan's injury is minor, then after 10 days saying he still can't grip a bat, then going fully silent for a week, is giving me Kyle Tucker ptsd. Over/under number of hands Yordan currently has: 1.5?
