You just can't trust the Astros

In an only league, would you rather spec on a terrible save chance (White Sox) or roster a better RP (Varland, Matt Brash)?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:22
I almost always err on the side of the better pitcher
11:23
Unless I'm just dying for Saves
Is there anything worse than trying to guess for Saves on a team like the White Sox?

I'm maxed out on my salary cap in an Otteneu Auction/Keeper League - Please rank the following Catchers: Savly Perez ($16), Gabby Moreno ($5), Joey Bart ($3), and Ryan Jeffers ($2).  I just added Jeffers in order to cut Perez.  We save half the salary of each player cut.  How likely am I to regret cutting him after he went off last night?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:24
Caveat: you saved a good chunk of money, and I actually am a Jeffers fan. but also
11:26
I'm a total Perez truther and have been on the "only a matter of time" bandwagon all season.
been crushing lasers at the same rates as previously but has had a god awful BABIP and HR/FB

How would you rank Burger, O’Hearn, Doyle, and Nimmo?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:28
Doyle >>> Nimmo > O'Hearn > Burger

We aren’t concerned about Salvador Perez or Brent Rooker, right? Their savant pages looks pretty similar to last year
Nicklaus Gaut
11:28
Nope, not really.
Summer's coming, my friends

Obp league. How big are the gaps between Adley, Kirk, and Quero (assuming that's even your ranking...)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:29
Monster gap after Adley
11:30
medium gap from Kirk to Quero but still significant.
Re: o's

They won yesterday, so pretty sure they're fixed!

Thanks for doing this, Nicklaus.  Question is:  when a player is released by a team, and is scheduled for repair surgery, who pays?  The releasing team, the individual player, the union?  There was a pitcher for the Royals (sorry, I can't remember) who had to undergo TJS last week, right after being released.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:31
Absolutely!
11:32
Team is supposed to be on the hook for any injury that occurred while the player was under contract

Slade Cecconi: how deep a league to start @det tomorrow, and, barring disaster, would you hold (on the bench?) through next week's LAD/@NYY?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:34
It's reasonable in 15-teams, but I'd be hesitant in anything shallower
And yeah, I think he's a hold if he holds his own against Detroit.

Is Andres Muñoz for Paul Goldschmidt a reasonable trade?  I lead the Saves category by 16 Sv, and still have John Hader.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:35
Yeah, that's pretty reasonable, given the context

Is Logan Henderson a viable starting option the rest of the season? Or just a flash in the pan? How would you rank him with other out of the woods Hot starters (ie Cameron, Walter, Kolek)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:38
I think you have to treat him like he will be, until he isn't -- he's had ridiculous K-rates his entire career, was really good in the minors last year and this year, and is now good in the majors. Gotta trust the kid a bit, at this point
11:39
I'd rather have him over the others

11:39
How would you rank W Warren, C Schmidt and B Brown ROS (roto leagues)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:39
Schmidt > Brown > Warren

11:40
I've had Ben Brown rostered all year in my N.L. 5x5 league and the hype doesn't remotely match his counting stats. Time to bail? Nobody needs strikeouts this badly.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:43
I wouldn't yet. Ratios are horrible but they're also the product of a couple of blowups, and not sustantained terribleness. FIP is still good, a .388 BABIP will come around, and (arguably, most important to his future success), he's been wrangling the walks better than he was through his first five starts (13 BB). 3 BB over his last five.

I'm guessing by your first name that your dad's fave golfer was not named Ray Floyd, Johnny Miller or Gary Player?

Oh, Steve, you are very wise
My dad loved golf and he lo-ooooved him some Jack
