How do you feel about Ketel Marte and Jose Altuve this year
AvatarBrendan Tuma
1:22
Haha appreciate the follow! Marte screams of a player who had a career year due to the mega-juiced ball of 2019. Jose Altuve I'm all over. If you include his postseason stats to his final 2020 line, his average rises from .219 to .250 and his wRC+ increases form 77 to 112. All the projection systems like him a lot

I have the 6th pick. Is it safe to get turner and get back to back two top notch SP? IE Nola & Kershaw?

I'd probably go Bieber or deGrom if I was picking 6th. I know that means you'll miss on Turner, who I typically prefer more in the 8-10 range. But I place a higher importance on the SPs than the SBs

What are your thoughts on "keep forever" dynasty leagues? Given that my league is transitioning from a keeper to a dynasty league next year, many are not excited at the thought of a possible salary/contract system
AvatarBrendan Tuma

Salary leagues aren't for everyone. I personally like dynasty leagues though. I'd recommend doing the draft as a startup, and not using current keepers you already have. Dynasty startups are some of the most fun I've ever had playing fantasy sports. My rule - always play for tomorrow.

Tough, tough. I'd go Plesac, Luzardo, Berrios, Morton, Musgrove
Hitter heavy

If I go hitter rounds 1-3 does snell plus Lynn rounds ;

I'd prefer to get 1-2 SPs in the first 3 rounds. There are so many hitter values later on - JDM, Stanton, Moncada, Gleyber, Meadows, Nelly Cruz, KB, just to name some that come to mind right away

Deep league dart throw. Wacha or Junis?
AvatarBrendan Tuma

Haha can I say neither? The Rays signed Wacha soooo I suppose him!

Last year I drafted Snell as my ace in QS ROTO league, and he got 0 QS.Now he's in SD,do you think Padres will let him stay on the mound after 5 ?Or use him as Rays?thx!

This is tough to answer. I'll add that the key to Snell's 2021 fantasy season isn't necessarily just being left in games longer, it's being able to throw strikes with his secondary offerings. That's what he did in 2018 when he won the Cy Young, and why he was able to be so efficient on such low pitch counts. I'd definitely guess that he goes 6 IP more often than he did with the Rays, but I also don't think he's suddenly going to be a workhorse. I'd be looking elsewhere for my SP2 - I'd prefer Zac Gallen, Woodruff, Maeda to name a few

Hi! Our home league is a shallow 7 teams 6x5 (classic roto plus OPS). How do you value pitchers vs hitters in the draft, since only approximately 35-40 SP will be drafted? Assuming the hitter’s top 5 is gone, who would you take at pick 6 and 13? Thanks a lot!
AvatarBrendan Tuma
1:33
I think I'd be even more inclined to target SPs early in this format, since there are so many fewer hitter spots to fill, there will be more options for you later in the draft. There will not be more aces to choose from, however. There is a limited supply of them and I'd take one of deGrom/Bieber with your first selection

Thoughts on Santander?

I don't have many thoughts. He isn't someone I ever draft. The skill set is probably the most replaceable in fantasy baseball these days

Was wondering your thoughts on the 4th pick in a start up keeper (8) roto with IP SV+HLDS instead of wins and saves. I know that Trout is amazing but I am considering taking Bieber there am I crazy?
AvatarBrendan Tuma
1:39
It's not crazy. I tend to lean hitters early in keeper startups, just because they're more bankable year-to-year. I think the youth of Acuna/Tatis/Soto makes them a clear top-3, and I'd personally go one of Trout/Betts, but I wouldn't flinch if someone took Bieber there. I'd add that once you go down the Bieber road, though, I'd be more willing to make win-now moves at the expense of youngsters/prospects
