  1. I think Lopez starts out; would be surprised if he lasts all year. Ferrer is a fave of mine for some saves this yr
  2. Fantasy value: Herz, Parker, Irvin, Williams. Super tricky to know which way WAS goes, though.
  3. Think they are all NL-only relevant (even Williams). Obv the later your auction, the better, to try and get a handle on who will make the rotation.

How much do you value (or devalue) ratios in weekly H2H cats leagues? Given its a weekly sample would it be wise to deprioritize those categories and favor players that have the ability to amass higher hr/sb k/w totals?
Brent Hershey

Yeah ratios are so volatile from week to week, I think your approach holds some merit.

Hi Brent,                                                                                               I am proud to say that I won my league last year AND I still have problems with decisions on keepers for this year.              Our league is a 6X6 Rotisserie style with 12 teams where we can each keep up to 3 keepers before the draft at 50% inflation with $260 budget.                                                          I will not be keeping Shohei Ohtani who would cost $60 (the easy decision), but on the other end of the spectrum I have at minimum ($10) Dylan Crews, James Wood, Xavier Edwards, Jasson Domínguez, Hunter Brown, Trevor Williams, Bowden Francis.  And I have Julio Rodriguez at an affordable $22.50, Yainer Diaz $21.                                       Our sixth category (other than the usual) is Slugging Pct. on offense and Holds on Pitching.  We can drop one keeper at the draft.  I am leaning toward keeping the three kids (Crews, Wood and Dominguez), but I would appreciate help.  Thanks

Interesting setup ... I THINK I would keep Julio as a known 5-cat superstar, then Hunter Brown who I like a lot this year then .... maybe Diaz, actually (?). I see the allure of the three kid OF ... but none of that trio are proven over a whole season, and $10 in a 12-tm mixed still seems like a high bar. With only 3 keeps, I think — again, this is a new exercise — I would lean more towards paying up for top, proven talent. And I'd be very happy with J-Rod, Yainer and Hunter Brown as my keeper core from a pure talent perspective.

Fun question; thanks.

Hi Brent,
I have to submit my protection list in two weeks. I am in a standard fantasy (10 categories) league. Based on the most recent information, could you rank in order of preference the following players L Butler, B Woo, Edwards, J Burger, B Reynolds, M Vientos, R Ray, B Francis, M Fried for their 2025 performance?
Same question for the following minor leaguers based on their potentiel (not just for the 2025 season): Walcott, De Vries, A Miller, L Montes?
Thank you for your collaboration

MLB: Burger, Butler, Reynolds, Vientos <small gap> Fried (tho injury risk scares me some), Ray, Woo, Edwards, Francis
MiLB: Walcott, Miller, De Vries <big gap> Montes

In 2023, it was very possible to have drafted Acuna, Olson, and Seager in the first three rounds. All had monster, league winning seasons. Last year it was Ohtani, Elly, and Gunnar. Pick 3 guys from the first 3-5 rounds of ADP that could ride similar waves in 2025. Thanks!

Assuming all hitters: Tucker, Chourio, Harris.

Thoughts on Max Meyer?

  1. Has to stay healthy/upright.
  2. Interested to see if these new pitches are any good. FB/SL already winners, but if he trusts and can use a third or fourth pitch, then his ceiling has risen.

Will soderstrom get any catcher reps are is he done there?
Brent Hershey

Almost positive he'll be 1B/DH only going forward

Thank you Brent (&, now Ray & Ron) for these chats. 6x6. Mixed $260 auction. 15 teams. Who do you see as some "buy high" OFs & MIs this year?
Brent Hershey

Any AL prospects on the hq 100 that get a big bump in obp leagues?

Emmanuel Rodriguez and Kevin McGonigle. Our new Org Report Datatable (if you're a HQ subscriber) is amazing tool for questions like this. (Filter by AL, sort by OBP rating, cross-reference those on HQ100)
