What are your thoughts on Telus TU earnings and guidance.  The stock seems to be taking a bit of a dip here and I am considering an add to my position.

Hi Dennis. i answered a question on Telus a little earlier in the chat and don't have much to add to what I said there. I think Canadian telecoms are going to have trouble making headway until the four national competitors rationalize their marketing in wireless. 3 is really the magic number in telecom, where margins are solid enough to encourage investment, which improves service and cuts costs. That's why the US and China are more investible now. But I think Telus has a great deal of value and is well positioned to hold market share and bring down debt per management's current plan while holding what's a very generous dividend. I never bet the farm on any one stock. But Telus is a value at this price in my view.

Just sending a closing thank you to both...FYI, you'd make a terrific doubles team in tennis. And, glancing over your "Six for 2026" themes, you're hitting home runs on what can be gauged at this point. Thank you for your hard work.

LOL. Well I can say that in the dim past we teamed up to win a company golf tournament. Not so much tennis.

Thank you for those questions today. A lot of good ideas. It's been a good year so far. We're going to do our best to keep it going.

Hi Roger: In light of how well WES, ET, MLPX and EPD are doing, would it make sense to raise the buy limits in the next few months?  Really, I guess what I am asking is, how  do you compute the max buy limits for those 4 stocks?  Thanks. Barry

Good question. Emotionally of course I want to do that. All four of these are great companies coming off solid Q4 results--as you can tell from what we said about them in the EIA issue today. And certainly momentum plays a huge role now in how far winners can run and losers can lag.

I think the MLPs are now finally starting to play a little catchup to the C-Corps. And none of these are really that expensive--ET is actually still below the buy in price. But we do set these prices for a reason--they're levels where sustainable growth plus yield is 10% or greater. And when they exceed them by much, it hasn't made sense to buy in until they retreat again.

These stocks are going to have to go a lot higher to be worth selling--though others especially the C-Corps are already there or close. But I think for fresh money we generally want to be patient and wait for the lower prices--rather than play the game of trying to justify higher entry points.

OK. Well that's all we have in the queue and from emails. I have to say there's a lot here that I'll be absorbing the next few days.
We will be emailing everyone a transcript of the Q&A tomorrow.
