The TOS 39 page was from the 1st Iron Man but had no Iron Man...and two panels of Stark...the final bid was very strong for what it was.

It's a bold time for the hobby, but at the same time, as I stand on the horizon wondering which side I will land, I wonder how many people have felt priced out after years of collecting.
John Butler

My LOL moment in the podcast from @Gene. "This is not fun for anyone who has been in the hobby for some time..." (paraphrasing...)
Jason DAmbosio
3:14
Lol @dant - @felix if you know where they are Hiding I would love to add another and @gene I know where a 172 page is but think you already know lol
Gene Park

@West...I haven't found out either yet.  That said, I've been able to cross a very long list of potential buyers off the list (people telling me that they didn't buy it).  In fact, one of my top guesses told me today it wasn't him...there's a couple of biggies that I haven't crossed off the list yet, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of them

I'm used to seeing so many people posting as the auction goes on

chat is fast and furious today!

Gene and others waited 20 years for this cover to show up
Marvin Ulloa

@Felix @Barry do you see any other original comic art pieces ever going that high again? Maybe I’m just skeptical, but I just can’t see something like that happening again
Barry Sandoval
3:15
Sure! If it were something similarly iconic. Wolverine saying suckers you've taken your best shot...
Felix Lu
3:15
@Marvin...yes, actually I do. There are obvious candidates, like HULK #181 cover...but I suspect there will be things that catch us by surprise...like a rather pedestrian page which doesn't really feature the first appearance of alien goo...
Rob T
3:15
Really enjoy the podcast Felix, looking forward to listening to the latest one
Felix Lu
3:16
@Rob T...thank you!

I’ve felt priced out since day 1

I roll a % of my crypto profits into comic art, and I know a few people doing the same. When Gene talked about an investment group buying the GI Joe cover, I immediately thought about DAO's (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) entering the playing field. FWIW I expect things to get crazier. BTW Comic Art > JPGs

Got to run guys. Have a great night
Nick Barrucci

There were some pages that fell between the cracks.  Less than normal, but there were some
Will K

I'm glad to be a DC collector.
Felix Lu

@Will K...way to look on the bright side!!

Already see it on the facebook pages.. how much is my crappy zeck worth questions popping up... ugh
West
3:17
Someone said a group of Gi Joe toy buyers were pulling resources to buy it. Only hearsay
Gene Park
3:17
@marcus wai - really wish the #21 cover had turned up a decade ago...I'm confident I would have taken it home then.  In this market though...as someone in their 20th year of collecting, there's too much cognitive dissonance at these price levels.

Hi everyone!
Nick Barrucci
3:17
I got the Marvel Comics Presents Steve Lightle Cover which I feel fell between the cracks
Felix Lu
3:17
@Nick...so do I! That was a really nice (and big!) example! Congrats!!

@jasonD Right. As if all Zeck OR black suited Spidey is now worth a fortune.

"Cognitive Dissonance" was today's secret square, wasn't it?
West

Congratulations Nick!

Someone brought up an interesting point in a conversation I had the other day about what that appearance meant, is it venom is it just the black suit and what would that do for a piece like the ASM 300 cover let’s say
Felix Lu
3:19
@KelseyS...or ASM #252 and all the other covers/pages that predate SECRET WARS #8?
Marc G
3:19
@barry What’s up with Miller DD bullseye page going for like 70k. I mean it’s not even a particularly important page.
Barry Sandoval
3:19
I heard people comment on a similarity to the DD movie? I must confess I saw that too long ago to remember ... BTW blockbuster announcement we will have another TOS 39 page in April

I’m with Gene, we are going to have four — at least — Fed hikes this year and the world is going to deal with declining risk premiums for the first time in more than a decade
