Felix’s method keeps some of us little guys in the game.  If it goes auction... oh, boy.
Andy/Cleangone
1:18
@lambo - absolutely so - but I don't necc think that is a bad thing
Lambo
1:18
if felix ever goes auction, regular collectors will get CRUSHED!!!
Jacob M
1:18
if I’m being honest my biggest problem with the system is that at 9am I’m either wanting to sleep because I have the day off or I’m about to start work on set and have to pretend I’m doing something official on my phone lol
Matt Todd
1:18
@Morgan thank you very much that’s very kind
Morgan
1:19
@Lambo absolutely!
JasonK
1:19
@lambo then the whining about only ultra wealthy can participate in this hobby now
Andy/Cleangone
1:20
@Rick - but my idea was not all auction.  Pricing for 95% of things, drop/auction for the cream
Tobin
1:20
@Lambo - i totally agree.  Please no auction format
Andy/Cleangone
1:20
You'd still have to be there at the drop.  Once a bid came in, the piece went into a countdown.  (prob 1 min, but configurable)
Dan T
1:20
@Lambo - I'll get blown out of the water in an auction format, so that would suck.  A lottery system for 20-40 pieces when there are 100s of entrants?  Then they sit on the winning ticket while they decide?  Also, how do you know what page you get on the lottery system?  I'm fine with what we have.  Sometimes, it's not a bad thing to miss on a piece and not spend money.
Felix Lu

Here's where I stand: Current system is NOT perfect. I acknowledge that. However, everything else is just trading one set of problems for another. So while current system isn't perfect...it's also good enough. I say this as a collector...this is the system *I* would prefer.
Victor B.
1:21
@JacobM lol, I’ve setup 1on1 meetings with myself just to be able to try to catch a drop
Casey A
1:21
@Lambo that's exactly right. I'm in education, and very grateful for a chance to pick stuff I like up without the ability to go to $10k plus for a piece that I love.
Reba
1:21
@mike C - same. Just use my phone and win some-lose some. Going to auctions would kill me but at least this system lets me be lucky along the way...
Andy/Cleangone
1:21
Boys: ONLY AUCTION FOR THE TOP PIECES....
the other 95-98% unchanged
Felix Lu
1:22
@Andy...just to clarify, I haven't rejected that idea 100%. But still need to think it over.
Dan T
1:22
@Victor B - I def do the same and I'm usually at my desk for lunch.  HA!
Lambo
1:22
cleangone wants auction because he knows he will blow us away since he gets paid a lot to come up with stupid ideas like this. 🤪
JasonK
1:22
@victorb ingenious!!
Reba
1:23
@jacob M - Felix drops are 3am for me but I think that's actually better than your 9am. Easy to either ignore or just set the alarm and no risk of work getting in the way at the drop!
Morgan
1:23
@Dan T totally! Every time I miss out on something I just think “well, not I can get something else”
Matt Todd
1:23
@Felix please no auction format. I do think the current system is the most fair. Have you considered listing the prices before the drop. That way a collector knows what how they can Plan
Felix Lu
1:23
@Matt...no previews of any sort. Part of it is, I already have so much on my plate managing everything. Trying not to add more to do. It's a lot to organize as is. Hope you understand!
Jimmy Lawrence
1:23
Hi all!  I've won some/lost out on several Felix drops-the split second decision making and waiting to see if it's gonna happen is a part of it
Disgruntled

This isn’t exclusive to Felix.  I don’t like (and this probably reads too harsh) the games: tell us what pieces are actually dropping and tell us the price.  If I’m not interested, I’d rather stay off the site and free up the bandwidth for someone who is.
Jacob M

@casey 100% i know it’s a problem of my limited budget compared to heavy hitter collectors. There’s an upside to it as well, which is it stops me from having time to convince myself a piece I’m not totally gaga over is worth it. Because a piece I consider a must have, unless the price is obviously out of my budget, I’ll go for without thinking. Case in point - I’ve been after some fin fang foom art for a bit, and the only piece I’ve found was a Mahmud Asrar piece from Indestructible Hulk. It’s been up on Cadence for $300 for a long time. It’s a nice page, but not an amazing one, and I’ve looked at it for like 6 months without pulling the trigger. I just grabbed it for $225 on their sale, which even then I thought about for weeks. If that had been a drop I saw and thought was hyped, I might have spent more than $300 on it. Of course this isn’t a perfect analogy bc the piece sat there and wasn’t part of a drop I saw. Just illustrating the difference between having time to think about a price vs not having it.
Matt Todd
1:24
oh man that sent earlier than I wanted, plan in the sense that I know what pages k
Jacob M
1:25
@victor b. Lol! That’s a nice luxury!
Casey A
1:25
@felix, isn't that what the "offers" format you've used for the DWJ Magic pieces and the Klein Thor painting from a little while ago test? I figured there's a number that you and the artist have in mind, but then you see what folks are willing to do for it. It's all fun. Like Jason said, always another piece.
Felix Lu
1:26
@Casey...Yes, there are special circumstances, like the pieces you mentioned. So, in a way, it's already being done! Just not systematically at every drop.
Matt Todd
1:26
oh I totally understand and the last message sent before I could review it thanks for answering
Andy/Cleangone
1:26
@disgruntled - the base idea is to drive eyeballs and inerest
Disgruntled
1:26
But look, it’s your business; run it the way that’s best for you.  Sincerely, you don’t owe me anything.
Dan T
1:26
@Disgruntled - most drops are for identified issues, so you can preview what's dropping ahead of time.  Price wise - you need to make an educated guess, based on where you've seen other pages sell at previous drops or what's still available.  Then assume it's more to be on the safe side.
Felix Lu
1:27
@Dan T...that's where people who attend the drops often have an advantage: They already have a sense of the pricing. There are so many guys who already know how I'm going to price things when they read the comic lol!
Joao Antunes
1:27
Good evening Felix and good evening to all, hope everyone is being able to stay safe
Reba
1:27
@morgan and @jason K - agree, always another piece. Wrong hobby if you can't deal with disappointment for sure
Andy/Cleangone
1:27
@lambo - been thinking about your comment.  The hole in your arguement is 95% of the time, I forget about the drop
