Hello all
Rob A
1:14
looking forward to catching up on the podcast! Zeck was the first big name I met when getting into this a few years back, always a favorite
Philip B
1:15
The story about the black costume is that a fan wrote into Marvel with the geveral idea (although it was black & red, Ivthink

Sorry to ask so many Qs. Chuck, is Gerhard still holding onto a lot of Cerebus art? Any chance for another sale? What is your favorite piece of Cerebus in your collection?
Chuck Costas
1:17
Yes, Gerhard still has CEREBUS art. We are talking about another sale, but not sure when. My favorite piece is actually two pieces: Two pages from CEREBUS #1!
Mike Cichy
1:17
@Nick Pitarra, thanks for the great Arzach commission
VictorB.
1:17
Hey Nick! Loving the pages you are showing on socials! can't wait for the book!
malvin
1:17
I love Zeck too, he is probably the only artist I would get a cover recreation from, and I have 3 of them now!
Philip B
1:17
Then Jim Shooter paid the fan several hundred dollars for the idea. It’s unclear if Shooter gif that before or after he asked Mike Zeck to design the new costume.
Mark Tomlinson
1:18
Hey Chuck....Is Profiles still in the comic art auction field, or have they gone back to strictly Hollywood memorabilia?
Chuck Costas
1:18
@Mark...Joe Maddalena joined HA and my understanding is that he's involved in multiple areas including comics and comic art.
Simon B
1:18
On the podcast do we learn what Mike Zeck's thoughts are on the $3.3M insanity?
Felix Lu
1:18
@Simon B...yes...right at the beginning!!
Joao Antunes
1:18
Good evening Felix, good evening to all
Felix Lu
1:18
Hey Joao...how's the weather in Portugal?

Nick Pitarra

Thanks everyone, Ax-Wielder is almost finished and  I’m sending Felix more commissions this week.Does Chuck care to share how much the cover was , at the time, that he past on that Dave now has ? It’s always cool to see how much the prices have gone up.
Felix Lu
1:20
You mean the SECRET WARS #1 cover?
Nick Pitarra
1:23
Yes!
Chuck Costas
1:23
@Nick P...just to clarify, I never had a chance to buy the SECRET WARS #1 cover, or any SECRET WARS art, directly from Mike. That was all sold before I met him. My chance to buy the SECRET WARS #1 was around 2003 or so. The price then was about $20K. Or $25K. Around there.

its awesome that chuck has been a guest on two of my favorite podcasts between Felix's and Dave's
Nick Pitarra
1:23
Yeah, it’s cool if he doesn’t want to share, but I was interested in how much the market has grown since he was offered the cover.
James
1:23
Hi Felix! Any Harren artwork going up for sale soon? Covers?
Felix Lu
1:23
@James...later this year with the return of ULTRAMEGA!
JasonK
1:24
Is OA collecting turning into just a more exclusive and expensive form of slab collecting?
Felix Lu
1:25
@JasonK...for some, yes. You can see the slab mentality bleed over into OA.
Chuck Costas
1:25
@JasonK...no, not necessarily. Yes, there are some investors coming into OA, but not in the same capacity as comics and cards.
Simon B
1:25
@JasonK for some people for sure
Nick Pitarra
1:26
Ahhh, thanks so much for the info, Chuck, and for taking the time out to do a great interview. Very well spoken and I love the insight.
Joao Antunes
1:26
@ Felix, very cold for what we are used to, sorry for taking so long to reply but was trying to catch up with the chat :)
brett feschuk
1:26
i havent had a chance to cue up the podcast yet... but i am kinda interested in hearing (2nd hand anyway) what mike's thoughts on the sw8 page sale. if anyone knows.
James
1:26
What is slab mentality?
Felix Lu
1:27
@james...IMO, it's the emphasis on first appearances, "key issues", etc.
Joao Antunes
1:27
Fantastic podcast...as always!
Simon B
1:27
@James first appearances commanding the highest prices, regardless of the quality of the art
JasonK
1:27
@james I'm talking more about 1st appearance/key issue collecting. As opposed to some who collect more by artist
