@Joe Completely agree! A lot of the fun of the commissioning hobby for me is researching and discovering new and up-and-coming artists and taking that gamble! Hugely satisfying when a piece comes back and blows away your expectations. There is a massive spectrum of artists out there and its just absurd to think that the most well-regarded and respected industry professionals should demand anything less than their market rate.

The color gets so much attention, that people are sleeping on the inks...but the inks are AMAZING. For my commission, I got inks!

Keith, as far as new project goes, its def sci fi, and harkens back to the very "low" art vibes of 90's Heavy Metal magazine covers, that's all I'll say about that!

@Felix @Joe Regarding the 1 vs. 2 character choices: yes, basically my understanding after chatting with Felix about it is that it allows a commission patron to ask for two characters central to the composition, but does not necessarily imply that a 1-character piece will not have peripheral characters which is simply at the artists discretion.

I got a 2-character Nick Dragotta commission (cover recreation) earlier this year with no expectations of the additional characters in the background.  Not only were they there, but he went WAY WAY above & beyond putting the book title and corner box on the commission.  It's spectacular and worth every penny.

Chris, do NOT feel bad at all. You didn't do anything.

What I find interesting is that collectors are free to vent whenever, however, and as much as they want in that group. But it's bad form if I respond to that. Well, maybe it is...but I got things to get off my chest, too.

In the end, as testy as things might get, hope everyone who reads can decide for themselves. I'm OK with that.
