Will any Ultramega issues be broken up for sale?
Felix Lu
3:29
@Mike...yes! The NEXT one!
John P
3:29
Also- I never fully understood the James Harren hype until Ultramega. Now I get it:)
Lambo
3:29
@ Ron lim so you buy another page that you don’t want, a page that might be someone else’s favorite?
Ron Lim
3:29
@Lambo, Or to Francis's point. Maybe you can only afford one but are looking at two pieces. It'd be nice to see the work before buying.
Casey A
3:29
@lambo cardboard vip 😂😂😂
Reba
3:29
@casey yeah, keeping eye out for those heads-up clues is part of the fun

ultramega #2 pages coming! Nice! I haven’t had a chance to read issue one yet but I’ve already bought multiple covers of it, including the attack Peter variant 😊
Ron Lim
3:30
@Malvin Or the random sketches that the artists release.

It's a bummer that there are so many barriers to entry like VIP lists to the hobby.

There was a piece of art that sold on the amateur Dueling Dealers the other week, which was bought by a dealer, who put it up on his site at more than double the price he paid for it the week after. As someone who's new to the hobby, that sort of thing is off-putting.
JaaonK
3:30
@malvin @ronlim missing out. Lotta great books these days
Josh Hall
3:30
@lambo I think you're right but doubt I have a chance! Haha

I buy a lot of art but am not on ANY vip lists. Guess I don't spend enough.
Reba
3:31
Lol 'cardboard vip'
Lambo
3:31
@jw. Lots of shenanigans in this hobby.  Well in all hobbies I suppose
Jeremy Moore

@john_p : Harren’s art in person is very energetic and made me a fan pre- Rumble days.

Those Ultramega pages look awesome.

I was worried there might be no more giants fighting in the remaining ultramega issues. Glad to see it continues

Another exclusive for the chat: I will be doing a talk with James Harren for Comic Art Live in May! Super-rare public appearance by James...Lambo will confirm he's a hermit usually! So save your questions for James and see you then!
Reba
3:33
@jasonK lotta great books for sure. Golden age esp. for creator owned
Mike Snitzer

Felix, any chance that Ryan Ottley will open his personal Invincible original art vault again? Ryan has sold a ton already.. just curious if the Invincible show has his wheels turning?
Felix Lu
3:35
@Mike...funny, just talked to Ryan about that! He's very non-committal, and leaning toward "no". Doesn't have much left. BUT, will be getting a couple of the big INVINCIBLE pieces he's done recently.
Reba
3:35
I want all these pages. This is going to be impossible!!!!!!!!!
jw
3:35
These Ultramega pages look great.

Doing drop previews in a live chat like this what you need to be on the mailing list to join in for is a pretty cool way to do a preview too!
Mike Cichy
3:35
You almost don’t need word balloons with Harren’s art.
Jeremy Moore
3:35
Also, James (like many of the Felix gang of artists) doesn’t have any weak pages. Even if you miss your most coveted page, you can still nab some amazing work.
Lambo
3:35
omg I fricken love that invincible show.
Olivia M.

Thanks for all the info. Great to join this impromptu chat and talk art. Have a goodnight all.

Late to the chat!  Good evening, all.  Echoing the many sentiments that the way Felix currently does releases art is uber fair.  Wouldn’t change a thing, except the length of my email address for times sake.  :D
Reba
3:35
Wow Felix, look forward to your chat with James

dear Felix, find it interesting that your site functions a bit like a gallery of a contemporary fine art “primary” dealer. (“Secondary" dealers would be auction houses or antiquarian fine art dealers.) While, of course, the primary venue for all comic art are the published comics as opposed to a sanctioned gallery wall, you still manage to make your site  the official space where these artworks are first available. And while contemporary fine arts galleries don’t always abide to a “first come first served” policy, they all pretend its the case. As such, your drops are like traditional art galleries openings. Anyways, to the best of m knowledge, this is a new, exciting  model for selling comic art, in that all the other reps I’ve bought art from continue to work as “antiquarian” dealers.

Thank you, Fabrice! And for everyone else...Fabrice is a museum curator in Europe with an interest in comic art...hope to have him on the podcast soon!
Lambo

yes I can definitely confirm James rarely makes public appearances so that chat is the next best thing to talk to a comic art GOD
