i really don’t understand why there is a demand for Felix to do stuff like auctions and times lottery’s and whatnot and yet other sites don’t get the same demands.  I can think of one dealer who has these secret VIP lists that they send out before their drops so by the time the actual drop happens, you see missing pages that don’t get listed.
Felix Lu
3:20
@Lambo...I think there are tiers to those VIP lists, too...
Morgan H
3:20
@Reba there are definitely pages that I own that I didn’t take much notice of when reading an issue but then I love them when I see the inks.

Felix, for shipping: does FedEx's "declared value" provide actual insurance? Or is USPS the only viable insured shipping option? I need to ship an art piece from Hawaii.. seller is telling me USPS is only real option.
Felix Lu
3:21
@Mike...FedEx won't insure art for full value beyond $500, iirc...
Reba
3:21
@thomas I do agree with that. I'm often not getting physiscal comics arriving here in Australia as fast as they used to so a drop a couple of days after ncbd can be tough...but yeah, takes away the immediacy and drama of the drop to delay
Jeremy Moore
3:21
oh, Felix, how dare you tease us with such awesomeness 😅
Michael
3:21
@Lambo "Demand"? No. A suggestion.
Malvin
3:21
@lambo, I agree, the current system works, tweaks won't help you win it
Andy R
3:21
@lamb - I can only think of one dealer who does not...:)

Not a fan of the full preview. Let the collector do the work and some research. There's a slight edge to be gained that way. :p
Lambo
3:21
@ron lim  and so would your competition and it would still be up to the fastest and luckiest
Ron Lim
3:22
@Lambo, Sure, but at least I'd only go for the ONE I want.

What research can be done to find out what art will be dropped without a preview, @JaaonK?
Tim D
3:22
Hey all
Reba
3:22
@morgan that's true, the real art can look quite different to the published version but unless a lot digital tweaking went on can usually get a sense of it

Hi Felix, just dropping to say "hi" and hope you and your family are doing well.  Interesting to read these comments to get a pulse of what others are thinking. Keep up the great work.
Felix Lu
3:23
Thanks Nathan! All the best to you and yours, as well!
Lambo
3:23
@ Ron lim and why would you go for the one that you don’t want?
Felix Lu
3:24
ULTRAMEGA #2 p.2
Ron Lim
3:24
An admission: I collect art these days, not comics. So a drop after the comic release does nothing for me because I haven't SEEN the comic.
Josh Hall
3:24
@Felix, I imagine you have quite a few subscribers and I've often wondered about it (obviously don't expect you to disclose) but I was also wondering if for random drawings you put people on a list until others win or just everyone subscribed COULD win EVERYTIME?
Felix Lu
3:25
@Josh...everyone on the list is eligible...the ONLY exception is for DWJ's Holiday Sketch giveaway...just one per lifetime for that one!
Francis F
3:25
I wish there was some way using programming where anyone selects the art, and as soon as you click the submit button, you can tell if you got the art or not. The first winner gets a Congrats message and the rest instantly get a "Sorry, try next time" window. My biggest beef with buying is not knowing whether or not I won, and then waiting before trying again.
Reba
3:25
Ah, issue 2 not sold complete then Felix?
Felix Lu
3:26
@Reba...I am officially announcing that we will be dropping ULTRAMEGA #2! ALL pages! So grab your issue at your LCS when it's released! Or get it digitally!
@Francis...for most of these drops, you either get your first choice, or you don't get anything...
JaaonK
3:26
@jw this is only for published pages. But you can crawl through artist IG posts, covers from an artist that have yet to drop, etc
Ron Lim
3:27
@lambo, panic? It's like shopping at a dealer's site after losing out at Heritage... you want SOMETHING.
Felix Lu
3:27
@JasonK...the ones who truly hustle like that will always have an edge, to whatever degree...
Casey A
3:27
I also feel like the commission list drops are a nice proxy for what a random drop would look like. Sometimes Felix leaves us breadcrumbs about when and who might be opening up, but once the email comes, whoever is fastest is fastest.

Great feed back. Learning lots.

@Reba same in Europe. With covid & Brexit we've had so many delayed deliveries from Diamond UK. Not saying drops should happen over a month after the print release but if there is at least 8-10 days it would sometimes be helpful for Foreign buyers. I know I personally won't buy a page of a book I have not read first. And I hate digital.
Lambo
3:27
@ Felix yes that site that I mentioned has different tiers for their vip list. As I found out from a friend who got a special VIP email 4 days before I got my VIP email. It’s like the airlines vip. There’s vip diamond , platinum, gold , silver.   Apparently I was cardboard vip.
Felix Lu
3:28
@Lambo...LOL! ""Cardboard VIP" has now entered the lexicon...
John P
3:28
Just wanted to say: Vote for Felix to never change:) so much worse is seeing reps/dealers sending stuff out that never hit their site. In this day and age with crazy prices, it’s actually one of the only fair chances to score a great piece at a decent price.
Malvin
3:28
@ron lim, do you buy art from comics you haven't read? I don't read comics anymore, the only newer published pages that I buy are those from artists I liked from before(e.g. Alan Davis).  Otherwise no nostalgia for me.  A good image would still pull me in
Olivia M.
3:28
Despite all the comments/thoughts, definitely want to echo that it is a great system and Felix Comic Art has a great site/roster. Was there previews for Akira/Scott Pilgrim? Wondering if I missed that last time I tried!
Josh Hall
3:29
@Felix, haha that's cool and you know DWJ original is what I crave most right now!
