@Jason Wood in the house! Getting some rest time in after working on the back porch this weekend?
Daniel Warren Johnson
7:08
@Chris Chavez mostly its a feel thing for me when something is done.  I'm always examining the page to make sure its not overworked.  But mostly I know exactly when and I stop then.

@Victor B. Good Show!

@dan t...the pandemic definitely curtailed podcast listening up and down the charts.

Break the mold - all BID!!!!
Felix Lu

@Andy...no! We said one auction, two claim, and that's what we're going to do!
Jason Wood

@chris yesser. Quite the weekend of DIY. Nice to know my soft, finance nerd ass can make use of power tools on occasion.

Let's pit some collectors against their self-interest
Christian Palomba

This seems like a wonderfully sloppy way of buying art. I love it. What's the auction at right now?
Felix Lu
7:09
@Christian...Victor B is in the lead at $750!
Jordan
7:09
Is $400 the high bid so far?
Felix Lu
7:10
$750 is the high bid from Victor B right now!
Chris Chavez
7:10
@Victor B dropped seven fifty on us all
Dan T

@Jason Wood - I'm a pretty new listener.  Picked it up due to these chats, so thanks to you & Felix for that.

Question for the group.  I’m sure some will think this is a loaded question, but there isn’t really a better place to ask it in real time. I recognize your right to not answer. 1-What is your income range?  2-How do you guys justify to yourselves the money you spend on art?
Felix Lu
7:10
@Guest...if you're gonna ask a question like that, you should at least tell us who you are!
Andy R
7:10
I've been saying "auction, auction" for years
Pat L
7:10
@DWJ - I know it must be difficult to choose, but do you have a "favorite" of all of your series that you've done so far? or a particular issue?
Daniel Warren Johnson
7:10
@Pat L my favorite book Ive ever worked on HANDS DOWN is murder Falcon.  I'm just so proud of the book and i hope I can top it someday.  Issue 8 of MF might be my favorite in the series, especially the "top gun" pages 1 2 and 3.  If you'll notice, there are some famous comic book artists on the "top gun wall" on page 1.

@DWJ loved seeing some MF in Beta Ray! Well done!!
Andy R

Felix is a stand up guy for the collectors
Pat L
7:11
guess I'll bid at $800
Felix Lu
7:11
@Pat L in the lead!!!

Felix -- what's the latest on the NFT stuff? I know you backed off, but has the entire sector comics angle cooled? I see Kindt NFTd a one-shot issue. I see Neal Adams is fighting DC for the rights to NFT his art. Curious if you think things are becoming clearer yet -- for better or worse?
Felix Lu
7:12
@Jason Wood...Nope, more and more artists are engaging. What's happening is that the amateur artists are now getting crowded out with the entry of pros into the space. Still much to play out, but NFTs will remain a thing for comic artists...

MF is in my top 5 all time comics I cry everytime I read issue 6,7 or 8
Daniel Warren Johnson
7:12
@John Johnson Heck yeah! Gotta rep MF!
Dan T
7:12
@Guest - I do OK, but I justify my spend by not having a wife or kids and the fact that much of my art collecting can essentially be viewed as an alternative asset investment.
Chris Chavez
7:12
1 - pass; 2 - I really enjoy supporting people who have brought so much enjoyment to the comics community.
Keith Becker
7:12
@Daniel Warren Johnson... was the first page of Murder falcon one of the pages you drew for the pitch?
John johnson
7:12
Felix is the most professional and fairest guy in the biz. Grateful for his help and method.
Jason Wood
7:13
@DWJ did you see I got your Moby framed up?
Pat L
7:13
@DWJ - thanks so much!  I would have also guessed MF due to the emotion behind it
Andy R
7:13
If I was more organized, I'd crack out the MF Abbey Road cover - it's a special piece, IMO
Daniel Warren Johnson
7:13
@Jason Wood I didn't see that!  Send me a pic!
This piece was the first experimentation with actually learning how to dray BRB, also I was thinking out loud with the Surtur Sword designs, just beginnging to feel things out.  It all started on that page, which is weird to think about, but that's how I do most of my designs and ideas.  I just grab whatever blank paper is near me and let my mind/hand wander.
