I was in kind of the same boat. I got laid off the week after I got my DWJ spot so I was beyond thankful for the timing of it.

No matter who you use for shipping, you’ll eventually run into bad experiences. You kinda have to scratch the worst experience and see who you’re happiest with on average.

My favorite thing is always picking up something directly from the hand of the artist. I hope I can get on some 2021 lists early in the year and do some pickups at a summer show

I’ve had worse luck with frames than art this year. My frames showed up 3 mos late (Covid, NY, fine I get it) but when they arrived it was like a giant box of shattered glass.

Felix (or anyone else who cares to answer), have you seen the recent documentary called “The Price of Everything” on HBO? It’s about the relationship between artists and the art market. In one scene an art dealer says, and I’m paraphrasing, “Yes, we’re in a bubble, but we’ve been in a bubble for close to 400 years now. Just don’t burst it!” He’s talking about fine art, but do you feel there could be some correlation to comic art world too? In general, it’s a great documentary that anyone who collects any kind of art should watch.

Hi Joe, I haven't watched, but have read/watched similar things about art market. In general, there are some parallels that can be drawn, but not all. One thing in common, though...certain art that was once popular, can fall out of favor. So even when overall market is strong, not everything goes up. As always, buy what you like and can afford. We're still small (we call it "the hobby") and things are still fun (relatively speaking). Hope it can continue to stay that way.
