@Tom...definitely artists who have been influenced, and try to replicate, pre-2018 Tradd. But look at these scans here...who's gonna be able to rip that off? Good luck!
JasonK

@Seamus feel like no one will get prices like this on the secondary market if there is art inventory sitting on the rep website. Needs to sell out first, and probably can't get there with initially aggressive pricing
Fabrice STROUN

@Mark V : Likewise
JasonK

Whoa! Definitely see some Bertram there. And recently some Tradd influence on Ian as well
Felix Lu
1:58
@Jason...osmosis!
Yo Kuri

A little Bertram influence on that one. Gorgeous

When is @marcus wai gonna attend a show on the East Coast?
Fabrice STROUN
2:01
@Joe L : Any Artist edition of Either DWJ or Trad Moore would become my favorite book of that year. My favorite mainstream US comic artists since ... Frank Quitely, over 20 years ago
Felix Lu
2:02
@Fabrice...did you read Oliver Sava's essay series on DOCTOR STRANGE: FALL SUNRISE #1? He namechecks DWJ too as a fave...
marcus wai
2:02
I don’t know.  Art tends to travel west.

@Fabrice That’s high praise, but I can support it. Quitely is the Master of Masters.
Fabrice STROUN

@Felix : not yet, printed it out, will be on the train for 8 hours this coming weekend, looking forward

Unreal!!!

A little late to this party..Big congrats to Tradd, and to you Felix for the monumental drop!

Wow what a complex page of art.
marcus wai
2:03
just for emphasis, the blank space
stefanomjr
2:04
those pages remind me of the canterbury tales (in a good way)

Seems like his line is evolving from perfect round forms to a more punctuated line. Interesting artistic choice and a cool new direction. Was it in part determined by hand health considerations? Did his partnership with the artist on these pages influence him on later pages and issues?
Felix Lu
2:08
@Yo...no concessions to health, at least not with the art. He's just going wherever his mind takes him.
2:09
Not sure what you mean by partnership...this was a 100% solo effort.
Seamus
2:09
thanks Felix for your comment "It's a veritable who's who of BSD collectors, new AND old, who have been after the art."  It helps understand the market and inform my own decisions.
Felix Lu
2:10
@Seamus...one CGC boardie was offended by that (not sure why) but it's the truth.
Fabrice STROUN
2:10
@Felix: how are the grays on these pages made ? Wash, digital, tones ?
Felix Lu
2:10
@Fabrice...Wash and tones. Nothing digital!
Yo Kuri
2:10
@Felix, I thought another artist did the bottom panels on those two pages. Could be wrong..
Doug Pflueger
2:10
@Felix when's the next podcast episode?
Felix Lu
2:11
@Doug...this summer! Taking a break from it this year as it's kid's last year at home. But will be picking it up again...for the distraction from missing her, if nothing else!
Fabrice STROUN
2:11
@well, "digital" in not a bad work in my vocabulary. Was just curious re technique
Mike Cichy
2:11
Those bottom panels do look very different
stefanomjr
2:11
Felix - I think in the past you've not been a fan of looking at the hobby and collecting as "investment" did this drop change your mind with respect to art as investment?
Felix Lu
2:12
@Stefano...not at all. Why would it?
David S
2:12
The above panel of Stephen Strange reminds me of what I imagine Shakespeare to look like! Feels like an etching for a medieval bookplate.
Felix Lu

2:13
First DPS from #2! BUT...maybe 14X20? Much smaller than the 18X24 monsters from issue #1...so if you got a DPS from #1...extra congrats!
Mike Cichy
2:13
Bad hair day for the Doctor!
Felix Lu
2:14
@Mike...disagree! No such thing as bad hair day when you're over 40! Every day is happy hair day if you still have hair!
JasonK
2:14
If you participated in the drop I'd say you definitely aren't buying as an investment. Lmao. Not saying it's not "worth" it, but artistic appreciation probably factored higher into the decision at these prices.
