Hi all! Sadly can’t stay for the chat but just wanted to let Felix know how hilarious it was that you mic dropped all the scanned images of the pages in that CGC board posting 😂 hope that everyone is doing well!
Felix Lu

@Pat L...haha! Not meant to be a mic drop. Just showing the art to folks who don't know it. They can decide for themselves what they think about it.

Hello @Felix. Complicated, maybe besides the point question. I'm thinking about the difference between the Fine Arts and the Comic art markets. In the fine art market, there is a difference between the "primary" market (ie reps, galleries that exclusively work with the artists) and the "secondary" or resale market (certain galleries that don't rep anyone and get their work from collectors, or auction houses). Prices attained on the secondary market do influence  gallery prices, but only to a point, and the growth is never exponential, but progressive. What changes if an artist reaches very high prices on the secondary market is that the works become much more exclusive on the primary one. Here it seems that Todd's prices obtained on the resale market had a direct impact on the Dr Strange pieces. Of course, by making the work potentially available to everybody, the comic oa market is more democratic. But, the fact that this line is blurred could be considered, in a way, much more speculative. Any thoughts ?

@Fabrice...I'm not sure what you're asking (sorry, need to get through all these questions quickly) and don't have the time in this moment to consider it fully. But happy to discuss more offline if you like. Otherwise, I would say that as fast as Tradd's values have risen, it's also been a very organic process. It has simply been a function of REAL demand. Whether primary or secondary...collectors want it! And they will pay for it.

I need to buy my Heroes tickets. Saw Tradd on the list and that made it a must go.

Have we seen 6 confirmed for Heroes so far?  DWJ, JAL, Tradd, Sanford Greene, Stephen Green, Andrew MacLean?
Felix Lu
1:48
@Dan T...three more to go!

I hear a lot about the CGC boards, not sure if im glad im not part of that or not.
Felix Lu
1:49
@Victor...haha! I've heard that same reaction from others. It can be a mixed bag, but as someone who's been participating there for almost 20 years, some of the best art discussions have occurred on CGC. Quality of discourse ebbs and flows as to be expected.

i hope you can carve out a podcast night for yourself.  i wound up watching two at the same time the other night and goofed one of my chat comments.  i couldn't really keep it all straight.
Felix Lu

@Seamus...my livestreams really just happen when they happen. I try not to conflict with anyone else's but sometimes it can't be helped (especially when Bill seems to be on every friggin night!:P) In Tradd's case, that was the ONLY night he could do it.

Re: sticker shock: thought prices on the high end were right where I expected it and a lot were cheaper than I expected. Not saying they were cheap or good "value" buys but I've had way crazier sticker shock on art that cost a fraction. Maybe Felix prepped everyone well with the YouTube show beforehand.

I hope Scott Dunbier falls in love with these pages and manages to convince everyone involved (Todd, first and foremost, Marvel, the owners of the pages, etc.) to do an Artist Edition

Tradd’s art screams for a black and white oversized edition

Tradd's title pages are so thoughtfully designed. Can't imagine how long that one took.

I wasn't familiar with Tradd's prices but some research shows the SS Black sales pretty much justifies the Doc Strange prices. The main question I had was how do other artist view this pricing? Does it inspire them to ask for more going forward?
Felix Lu
1:56
@Seamus...anyone can ask whatever they want. Or believe. This is true of artists and collectors/sellers. In the end, the market will let them know.
1:57
Currently, I don't see this happening easily for another modern artist. For a whole host of reasons.
Mike Cichy
1:57
I never see any whiteout on these pages. That in itself is just amazing.

Have you seen a lot of artists becoming influenced by Tradd's style?
