Seeing that Bill S. X-Men TPB cover was amazing. That was really special to see! My copy of that trade fell apart in early middle school many moons ago!
Felix Lu

@Jimmy...me, too! Almost an emotional experience seeing it in person!
Daniel White

My first buy was a Night Thrasher page around 1995. As an artist I thought it best to see what an actual comic page looked like.

@marcus what are the origins of your sense of humor ?
Felix Lu
4:20
@Will_K...from hanging around Albert all these years. Gotta do what you can to stay sane.
marcus wai
4:20
@ Fabrice I love doing these because they done for fun and not too serious.
Comix Art Connect - Joe
4:20
Hey hey. Marcus is my favorite guy on CAF! Much love
Mark V
4:20
@Dan T you're in for a treat...I've been buying his pages regularly but not every week
ML
4:20
I had never really seen that Phoenix piece. That is truly breathtaking.
marcus wai
4:20
@ Jimmy I know what you mean, I buy copies of the book and never open them
4:21
@ Will K, I watch Albert and can't help but laugh
Dave W
4:21
@Marcus - don't *think* ... So you're telling me there's a chance. YEAH!
Dan T
4:21
I've got that Dark Phoenix TPB also!  First trade I ever bought, still have it.

Jimmy Lawrence
4:21
@Felix---I'm sure! Certain art can hit you like that when you finally behold it in person. That's really cool
Dave W
4:21
@Kelsey - you know me
Simon B
4:21
I clicked on the YouTube link before listening to the podcast. When I saw the X-men trade cover my jaw hit the floor.
Felix Lu
4:22
@Simon...right?? Holy crap. My jaw hit the floor when Marcus sent me a grainy photo via text...
Will_K
4:22
@felix - I can see Marcus and Albert being a very one-sided conversation.
Dan T
4:22
@Mark V - after reading Esperanza, I'm now starting over on Volume 1 and going forward.  Started digitally, but going to get physical copies also.
Mark V
4:22
@marcus What made you decide now was the right time to showcase those pieces?
marcus wai
4:22
@ Mark V i feel that there are enough people in the hobby now that would enjoy them.  before, there are alot of people who wouldn't care to look at anything other than what they collected.
Kelsey S
4:22
I know you Dave! You were asking about my Hulk 50 cover 😉
Ron Lim
4:22
I know Felix was pumping that TF cover, but that Phoenix cover is the crown jewel.
Felix Lu
4:23
@Ron...I do believe the TF cover is the more important (and valuable)...but Phoenix would be my personal pick, too.
Comix Art Connect - Joe
4:23
Hey guys!
marcus wai
4:23
Actually, Albert in person back then had a bad reputation, which he would not admit.  I was told this by people in his booth before i worked for him.
Felix Lu
4:23
Past is past, Albert's a sweetheart now!
Ron Lim
4:23
@Felix I wasn't familiar with the TF. I was never a TF guy, comics or cartoon.
Dave W
4:23
@Kels - guilty as charged
Kelsey S
4:23
@marcus channels his inner Stan Lee when he makes a comment on CAF
marcus wai
4:24
I kind of softened his image when i wrote for him for ebay.  People would go up to him and say he's different
Dan T
4:24
Just to get this out of the way... Bill S. Dark Phoenix TPB cover >>>>>>>> Any Byrne X-Men cover.  I said what I said.
Felix Lu
4:24
That's what the kids call a hot take.
Ron Lim
4:24
I never thought of Albert as cold or mean, just all business.
Mark V
4:25
My copy of that X-Men trade looked like a truck ran over it at the time but that Bill S. cover always made it look so vibrant.
Andy Beall
4:25
@ Marcus... Got a favorite GI Joe cover from the 80's?
marcus wai
4:25
@Andy Beall Favorite Joe cover would be the #19
@ Andy Beall it would be #19 because it was in a commercial i remembered
Dan T
4:25
@Felix - Maybe, but I'll stand by it as a correct take.
