Milwaukee does the Cleveland/Tampa model (albeit with a little less consistent success) of trying to remain competitive every year despite budgetary limitations. They don't fully commit to a window, which can be frustrating for the fanbase, but they are usually in the playoff mix

Assuming a healthy Conforto, what should his years and salary be, and does he make sense for Texas?
Anthony Franco

Sure, fits for Texas. He's a one-year prove-it guy, like 8-10MM as a base salary with some playing time incentives probably

Hey Anthony, thank you for the chat!  In your opinion, what is the statute of limitations on cheating in baseball?  For instance, I don’t like the Astros because of the cheating scandal.  I LOVED them before it however, as they were my favorite AL team.  Now…..honestly….I just want them to lose.  But Barry Bonds is another story for me.  While I was not a Giants’ fan during his reign, I do think he’s been screwed over the BBWAA and public opinion.  I believe he should be in the HOF, and is, undoubtedly, the HR record hitter.  When should I let my animus towards the Astros go?  I know other teams were also cheating (which is why I forgive Bonds) and  they were the only ones to get caught (or at least made an example of).  5 years?  10 years?  Your take please!  Thank you

I'm more forgiving of the cheating scandals than most, probably. My take on the Astros and most of the steroid HOF guys is that they were going to be great anyways,  pushed an existing advantage, and got caught

I was never bothered by the Astros much to begin with. I thought they were the best team in MLB going into 2017, and after everyone's suspension was up, I completely moved on
I get that it's easier to say that as someone who's not emotionally invested in a team they beat along the way though

Royals... their GM has already said this isn't the year to go all-in, which is fine. But, if they don't lock up some players long-term, it's gonna hurt. BWJ, Pasquantino, and Singer have to get long-term deals, then the team can supplement with second or third-tier FA pitching, right? Maybe send Michael A Taylor to the Mets, Tampa, or something, too? What are your thoughts?

Sure, fully on board with exploring extensions for Witt/Vinnie. Do think they have to bring in some kind of outside rotation help
4:02
MAT doesn't have much trade appeal. Doubt the Mets would have a ton of interest even if Nimmo walks. Tampa already has a better version of the same player in Siri

What is a reasonable return to Toronto if they deal Jansen?
Anthony Franco

Two seasons of cheap arb control over a top 10-15 MLB catcher should get them immediate MLB back-of-the-rotation or outfield help
He's good, definitely would draw interest. Could see the D-Backs, Cardinals, maybe Guardians among those jumping in there

Which teams are most likely to attach prospects to rid themselves of a bad contract this winter?
Anthony Franco
4:05
Teams don't do this that often, not many examples that spring to mind. Atlanta's kind of up against their established spending levels and could try to cut some money, but they also don't have a great farm system
Same for Colorado

If we signed Taylor Rogers, we would have identical twins that have opposite handedness and extreme differences otherwise in pitching style. what sort of on-field affect would you imagine could come of that? Would you guess that would be extra confusing for hitters in any meaningful way?

Ha I don't think it'd have any advantage from a baseball perspective but I'd find it very amusing if an opponent couldn't remember whether Taylor or Tyler was the submariner
Alright that's all we've got in then queue and I have to get back to top 50 prep
Thanks for all the questions this week, had some very good ones as always
