Have we seen the best of Luis Garcia WAS or does he still have substantial upside?
Anthony Franco
5:04
This year felt like the ceiling for him but that's a pretty good player
5:05
Overall upside is still limited by the defense and the approach but .280 with 15-20 homers and 20 steals from a middle infielder is a good starting point

What chance do we see Jac Caglione in Kansas City in 2025?
Anthony Franco
5:07
15%? He should move quickly but that's a big ask for a player with zero professional ABs
Bad Contracts

Matz and Mikolas plus cash for Jordan Montgomery.  I suppose the D’backs wouldn’t do this since Montgomery may have more upside than Matz and Mikolas.  However, Arizona’s owner was publicly extremely critical of Monty.

Can't remember if I actually got to answer this one last week
5:09
I see the logic for it, sure. Snakes could plug Mikolas into the back of the rotation and use Matz as a left-handed reliever. Clean break for Monty and a chance for STL to cash him at the deadline for more than they'd get for either Mikolas or Matz if he bounces back

When is your prediction for the first impact free agent signing? Who is it and to what team?
Anthony Franco

I'll take Fried in between Thanksgiving and the start of the Winter Meetings

Does Minnesota trade Pablo? Do they bring back Santana? Do they cut ties with Kepler? Will the organization form a broadcast solution? Would a new owner open up the wallet to raise payroll to pursue hot free agents?Lots of interest in buying the club. Glen Taylor would pay to field a winner. Joe Pohlad has no interest in running the team. Levine is gone. Falvey is next probably after Baldelli is fired.

Feels like it's time to move on from Kepler. Guessing they'll let Santana walk as well. 10-20% chance of a López trade, I guess? It's the easiest way to clear a huge chunk of payroll room but they don't need to cut spending so much as they're just not in position to add to it

Is Witt’s extension + 10% a good comp for Gunnar Henderson? Maybe 11/316 with a couple of opt-out points?
Anthony Franco
5:17
Hmm. Admittedly haven't looked at this closely but at first blush, that still feels a little light. BWJ got a really good deal for himself but that was something of a projection bet from the Royals that he'd take the leap to MVP level (which he did). Gunnar's already there
5:18
Even if you give him a chance or two to opt out, I think Henderson's beating the Tatis guarantee
Alright, I need to wrap things up

Thanks as always for continuing to support the site and hanging out each week! If I didn't get to your question, feel free to throw it at me on X @affranco10

Have a great weekend and enjoy the games! Possible that next Friday's chat will be our first of the offseason, though I'm hoping for a series that goes at least six
We shall see!
