Elly by next August. Marte probably early '24
Thank you for the chat!

Does and IKF for Max Kepler trade make sense?
Anthony Franco
3:58
I expect Minnesota to aim higher at shortstop rather than circling back to IKF

Your prediction where Aaron Judge signs? I'm hoping it's the Giants. Imo, they need a true CFer (Nimmo?), a Trea Turner/Correa/or Bogaerts, plus a co-ace on a short term high AAV (Verlander?).
Anthony Franco
3:58
Would be very surprised if the Yankees let him walk

What could the Phillies get for Hoskins?
Anthony Franco

Some trade appeal for one year, albeit a fairly expensive one of an above-average first baseman

Not getting a top 100 prospect or anything but could pull a couple mid-level guys and a big league ready reliever

Here's an article (quoting a podcast) about Jesse Winker:

Interesting, I hadn't seen that before. Without having a chance to listen to the context of Divish's quotes I don't want to react to it but the excerpt is pretty rough
And Divish is one of the three to five best beat reporters around, so I'd place more stock in hearing that from him than from most others. I'll give that a listen

How many starters do the Red Sox need at this point, given the announcement of Whitlock to the rotation?  With Sale and Paxton so fragile, it has to be at least 2 right?  They can't totally rely on Bello to fill a slot.
Anthony Franco
4:02
Yeah I think it's two for the reasons you mentioned. There's some talent there but almost no certainty, would like to see them aim a little higher on upside than they did last time around
4:03
They kind of plugged things together with Wacha, Hill, Paxton buy-lows last winter. It worked ok but lacks the impact guy at the top I'd like to see them go harder after this winter

I'm surprised to see Click and the Astros part ways.  Where do you think he goes from here?  There doesn't appear to be an open GM/POBO role for him at the moment.

Hey, Anthony. Thanks again for the chat.  Any thoughts on where James Click is going to be working a year from now?
Artie moreno
4:03
If James click is leaving I should get him
Anthony Franco
4:04
Pretty surprising he got dismissed. Even with all the reported friction I assumed they'd manage to stick it out after winning the World Series. I think the ship has sailed on Click getting another GM job this winter, although he probably finds an advisory role somewhere
4:05
I'm sure we'll hear him mentioned again next winter. Angels are viable enough as a team that could be looking at a GM change, although I don't expect Moreno will still be around to make that call next winter
Auwe!

Difficult to see Atlanta losing Freeman and Swanson.

Addressed this a bit more in the Top 50 chat, but none of us consider it a foregone conclusion Dansby walks. We all leaned elsewhere but think it's entirely possible they keep him around
4:07
It's just a reflection of the payroll getting up there already and, in my case, a belief they'll work out an extension with Fried. If Dansby leaves, I expect they'd turn to the trade market rather than rely on Orlando Arcia or Vaughnn Grissom right away
Nate's great
4:07
Nate Pearson has some strong numbers in the winter league... if healthy, is he the perfect fireballer needed in the jays pen?
Anthony Franco
4:08
Think he could be that guy but don't have any confidence in him to stay healthy
Underrated
4:08
Will the MLBTR team put together a list of free agent players they feel could be steals / underrated / flying under the radar?
Anthony Franco
4:09
I kind of feel like the list already hits on that. You can compare at the back end guys we had that other outlets may not have: Strahm, Estévez, Rucinski
I believe we're also sending a list of the next ten guys who missed the cut on the 50 to you all via email, so that'll provide you a few more deep cuts
Gooooooo

If the Sox trade Verdugo, what’s a good trade partner?
Anthony Franco
4:11
White Sox, Padres, Braves, Rangers, Angels, Rockies all make sense to me

I hear so many rumors about Trea Turner and Correa. What should I believe
Anthony Franco
4:12
They'll be in on all the shortstops to some extent but I imagine they'd prefer to retain Turner over Correa, since they do seem at least somewhat concerned about how the fanbase would react to Correa
Alright I have to get going. Apologies for the stuff I didn't get to, feel free to message me on Twitter if I missed your question here
4:13
Thanks for all your support of the site and for all the questions, as always!
Hope you all have a great weekend, we'll do this again next week!
