There's also just the fact that the two days or so before the deadline, while fun, are also exhausting haha. Offseason has a few of those pressure points but not to the same extent

Are there any teams that would take Patrick Wisdom and his 40% strike out rate?
Anthony Franco
3:22
Roster him? Yeah. Give up anything of real note for him? I doubt it
Kevin
3:22
Besides resigning Swanson are the Braves done? Do they attach a prospect to get rid of ozuna or Rosario?
Anthony Franco
3:23
If they bring back Dansby, I think that's probably about it. If he walks, I can see them adding a lower-cost shortstop and addressing left field
3:24
No one's taking Ozuna even with a prospect attached. Rosario, I guess you could do that, but I don't see a huge benefit to it. I'd rather just pay him and see if he can figure things out again. He's always been a peaks and valleys kind of player
Don't think they're in for the most exciting offseason, but that's in large part because the existing roster is so good. They don't have to do anything crazy, they're already awesome

Hunter Renfroe to the Angels? What are the chances?    (A couple more depth pieces.  Help in the BP.  Neither of which should cost Arte much. Maybe...maybe a shortstop.  And...health...and they could sneak in the tournament next year, right?
Anthony Franco
3:25
Sure Renfroe fits there. If you add a couple middle relievers, Renfroe and a mid-tier shortstop as mentioned earlier, I think they're a bubble Wild Card team
Hard for me to see any realistic path to a division title, and they'd need better health luck to get to a Wild Card than they've had in recent years

Big Trevor Williams fan.  Do you think the Mets have a chance to resign him?  If he wants to be a starter, seems like there is plenty of opportunity in New York right now.  Thank you very much.
Anthony Franco
3:26
Yeah I don't see why they couldn't bring him back. There's definitely opportunity as you mentioned
I don't know that I'd want to promise him a rotation spot on a win-now team, but you could do worse as your #5 starter

Will we ever see a day where teams are penalized for spending 50 million on payroll, when others are paying one player 35-40 per year? I get markets and all, but KC, Pittsburgh, etc, could field a payroll of 125-130 million yearly in today's world. KC is just becoming unwatchable. O'Hearn for another year? But cut a LHP that throws 100... And I feel for Pirates fans as well. It's like they're the big league farm clubs. I just pulled those two teams out, but there are others. And then there's the Rays who make everyone look dumb.
Anthony Franco
3:27
I doubt it. You'd have to put these penalties into the CBA, and smaller-market owners just aren't going to sign off on that unless the union budges on a salary cap or whatever

Thoughts on the Padres offseason moves?  Curious what you think of our chances of bringing back Bell and Drury.
Anthony Franco
3:28
Drury feels likelier than Bell, although I lean towards both walking. Still seems like prioritizing starting pitching, even with Martinez retained, is the goal
3:29
Could see Profar coming back, Austin Nola getting dealt for rotation depth. They'll probably dip into free agency for some middle innings help
Nimmo
3:29
Where am I playing opening day? Do you still hold true to your preseason predictions on his contract/team?
Anthony Franco
3:29
Yeah I don't see any reason to move off the Giants on that
I wanted him at 5/115, but we stopped at 110. Something in that range still feels right
Kevin Newman
3:29
Where could a new home be for me if I’m non-tendered?
Anthony Franco
3:30
Mentioned Minnesota/Angels/Braves already. Arizona could check in, although he's pretty similar to Ahmed. White Sox at second base maybe?
3:31
There are a bunch of places he could go, but no one that signs or trades for him is going to feel like they made a huge splash. He's a fallback for teams that don't get a great shortstop
Atkins
3:31
is Merrifield a good enough full time OF to sign a top SS? Move Bo to 2nd and have a Gurriel - Springer - Whit OF?
Anthony Franco
3:31
I think Whit could do this but am skeptical Toronto would want to move Bichette off shortstop this early in his career
See the logic for it but it feels like a long shot
Oscar Gamble
3:31
What free agent moves do you think Cleveland will make? What free agent moves do jig think they should make?
Anthony Franco
3:33
Expect they'll bring in a catcher via trade or free agency. If it's the latter, probably a Mike Zunino type. They could use a right-handed corner bat as well, maybe they stretch the payroll (relatively speaking) for Haniger
Chris
3:33
Can Trevor Bauer pitch in 2023?
Anthony Franco
3:33
He's suspended for all of next year. His appeal is still pending but as of now, no
Steve E.
3:33
Why did the Diamondbacks need ANOTHER outfielder? It's one position where they have extra bodies already, and more prospects on the way. More trades in the offing, you think?
Anthony Franco
3:36
Just an upside dice roll, don't think Lewis really impacts the outfield situation that much. Given his history of knee issues, he's better suited for DH work anyways
Probably means they trade Seth Beer though
Atkins
3:36
Which jays catcher is most likely to be moved? Does Moreno or Kirk have more value?
Anthony Franco
3:37
Jansen feels the likeliest. Least trade value but easiest guy to part with. Kirk has more value than Moreno in my eyes, although that probably varies team-to-team depending on their opinion of Kirk's long-term defensive projection

Do u see the Cubs doing anything big this winter or more has been?
Guest
3:37
Do u think the Cubs will actually spend money this year and stop the trying to catch lightning in a bottle act like they been doing for years?
Anthony Franco
3:38
Yeah I buy it this time around. I don't think they're signing Judge or any of Verlander, Rodón or deGrom, but adding anyone else wouldn't really surprise me
2 wins short
3:38
Assuming they spend a bunch on a shortstop, which reasonably priced relief pitchers would you recommend for the Phillies to fill out the last three bullpen pieces.  And please, don't say, "Bring back Familia."
