It feels a little directionless, I agree. They have room to decrease payroll while still being involved in free agency. Snell and Conforto coming off the books knocks off nearly $50MM. Estrada made a few million, they could move Yaz/Wade to clear another $15MM or so

They'll be active, but if the offseason consists of signing Ha-Seong Kim, Tyler O'Neill and a mid-level starting pitcher while moving Yaz and Wade, it still feels like a fourth place team to me

Leody probably. It's a thin CF market and they can go with Langford in left and Carter in center. Have to listen on Adolis but if all you're getting is someone willing to take the money off your hands for minimal return -- which is probably the case coming off the season he had -- I'd hold and hope he bounces back

To me it seems like the Yankees have traded or lost in the Rule-5 the most double-A or higher level pitchers in mlb by a long shot since about ~2019. Guys that jump to mind JP Sears are Mitch Spence. Is there any truth to that notion? Have the Yankees maximized their pitching pipeline in some new way that’s giving them a competitive edge?

Sears was in the Montas trade but the Yankees have lost Garrett Whitlock, Trevor Stephan and Spence in the Rule 5 in recent years
