Everyone seems to hate Bubba Thompson, and they predict he's nothing more than a couple of legs off the bench. As a fourth outfielder, will he get enough SBs to justify his presence on a fantasy roster?
Anthony Franco
6:10
I don't think so, expect he'll be back in Triple-A before too long

I am just one of a million shortstop prospects in the Reds farm. But a lot of people are saying that I have the most upside out of all of them.  What say you?
Anthony Franco
6:10
Seems like he’s the best defender of that group. Hard to say he has the most upside when guys like De La Cruz and Marte have the huge power ceilings though

Bernie Plaskoff wrote a piece that suggested the Jays could trade one their catchers for 2-3 Cleveland minor league including Xzavion Curry. That seems really light to me. Am I alone?
Anthony Franco
6:11
I haven’t seen the piece you referenced, but if the implication is that Curry could headline a package for Jansen (or Kirk/Moreno somehow), that isn’t happening, I agree.

Happy Thanksgiving!   With the Hiring of a pitching coach now are the Rangers ready to bring in one or two pitchers, and any rumors on an outfielder?
Steve K.
6:11
Anthony, last year’s free agent spending spree by the Rangers obviously didn’t pay immediate dividends. With internal changes (bye, JD) do you have a sense if the credibility of Chris Young and Bruce Bochy will help the franchise attract quality type FA’s this year who aren’t looking to wait out a long rebuild? Texas says it’s ready to spend yet again.
Anthony Franco
6:11
Yeah I wouldn't say last winter's spending spree fell short really. It was always about laying the foundation for 2023 in conjunction with what they'll do this offseason
6:12
An ace, another back-end type like Odo, and an outfielder feels very reasonable to me. I don't think Texas is backing off the throttle much at this point

Wild guess what the Mets rotation looks like on Opening day?
Anthony Franco
6:13
Hmm: Scherzer, Bassitt, Carrasco, Heaney, Peterson?

With the shortage of center fielders will team just have corner OF play there?  I think that happened to Conforto and Benintendi and they were serviceable
Anthony Franco
6:13
I can't see Conforto being an option for this. He hasn't played there since 2019 and is now coming off a major shoulder surgery in his throwing arm
6:14
A team could probably get away with Benintendi playing there for a year, and I think some clubs will kick the idea around. Don't see many other great candidates for this on the open market, although trading for Max Kepler and playing him in center (where he obviously hasn't had a clear path in Minnesota) would be interesting
No turkeys on my Rotisserie

I have to decide between three players for a keeper Rotisserie League:  Jackson Chourio, Druw Jones and Noelvi Marte.  How bad is Druw Jones' injury?  Since Chourio and Jones won't reach MLB until 2024, is the injury a big deal?
Anthony Franco
6:15
Tough to say shoulder surgery isn't a big deal until we see how he hits after coming back. I'd take Chourio of the group
Denny Doyle
6:15
Does Hosmer make the Sox opening day roster?  I get that his contract now is somewhat valuable, but that no trade clause...What could he bring back if they work something out?
Anthony Franco
6:16
Yeah I think he'll be on the roster. Doesn't have a ton of trade value even at the league minimum, but he's probably better than Dalbec and keeping him around raises the floor a bit if Casas struggles and has to go back to Worcester

Now that the Angels have answered a bunch of my prayers, can you think of some bargain priced (tough in this market, I know) bullpen help they can go after...or reclaimation projects you think might be able to be fixed?  (and thanks and Happy Thanksgiving, Anthony.)
Anthony Franco
6:17
He's got some health questions after ending the year on the IL with elbow issues, but I'm kind of intrigued by Dominic Leone as a depth flier. He got a boatload of swinging strikes for the Giants this year
Chad Green's a multi-year reclamation project. Tommy Kahnle gets hurt a lot but is very good when healthy

Hello, everyone keeps talking about the Jays trading with the Cardinals to get an outfielder (my fav would be Lars Nootbar) but I think they would do better talking to the diamondbacks... Varsho is an outfielder/catcher so they could use a right handed hitting catcher as well plus their need for relievers so how about Jake McCarthy FOR  Danny Jansen, Julian Merryweather & Andrian Hernandez.   If they insist on Kirk instead then McCarthy & Josh Rojas or completely switch to Daulton Varsho... plus still sign Cody Bellinger... thoughts
Anthony Franco
6:18
McCarthy for Jansen is an interesting framework, particularly if you toss Merryweatehr in there to give the D-Backs the kind of power arm they want to take shots on. I like that one
Wouldn't give up Kirk for McCarthy/Rojas if I were Toronto. Doubt Arizona does Kirk for Varsho

Since you  were the only MLBTR writer to say Freeman wouldn’t re-sign with the Braves ,what does your sagacity say for Swanson?
Anthony Franco
6:19
I'd take the field (and picked the Cubs on our top 50 list) but think Swanson's likelier to return to Atlanta than I felt Freeman was 12 months ago
Alright that's all I've got time for today
6:20
Got through most of the queue but apologies if I didn't get to your question. If you reach out on Twitter, I'll be sure to get back to you there
Thanks for all your support and for all the holiday wishes! Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving (or for the Jays fans in here, a fine regular old Thursday)!

We'll do this again next week, have a good night everyone!
