I don't know that your premise really holds. The Phillies made the World Series with a fine but not great bullpen, as one counterexample
4:05
It has been surprisingly quiet on Chafin and Ottavino specifically, but teams did jump at some priority relief targets (Díaz, Suarez, Montero) before doing anything else this offseason

So, the Giants got the big fish in Correa (which I feel is cool, but think the contract is CraZY).  But, we still have  a lot of holes on our roster.  We could really use a CFer, a 1B-man, and some relief pitching.  We still really need another bat too! Who do you think in any/all of those positions make sense for "us" at this time?  Thank you!

Kind of expect they'll bring back Belt to add a lefty bat to split time with J.D. Davis at first. Could look into a Rowdy Tellez trade there as well, but doesn't seem like a priority
4:07
Center field market is empty. Michael A. Taylor's probably available, maybe the Astros sell low on Jake Meyers? Could use another good glove but don't think you're finding a better all-around player than Yaz at this point unless you take the huge swing for Reynolds back

Do you really think that we are holding out for Othani. With all due respect we are loaded at pitcher and have bat’s for DH
Anthony Franco
4:08
That hasn't stopped the Dodgers before. If the chance to get a great player presents itself, they're not afraid to move stuff around

Don’t you think that the long term contracts being given out are a bit risky and will tie down a team for too long. Look at Pujols

I'm perfectly fine with players getting paid their values, but I hate the long-term contracts.  In six years several teams will have 2-3 geriatrics taking up roster spots

Got a few questions like this. Yeah, at the back end, those players will be pretty bad. But it's far enough in the future that a $25MM-ish salary may not actually feel that high by 2034
4:11
And broadly speaking, I think front offices are content to view those years as someone else's problem. How many GM's working now will have the same job in a decade? Probably like 3-5. That's not something you want your employees considering when making decisions like these, but it'd probably be naive to pretend it never crosses their minds

While they’ve been surprisingly busy to start the off-season, I’m wondering what is the next move for the Angels? I’d like to see them address SP by signing a Wacha, Eovaldi type starter.

Adding another middle infielder and another Estévez type reliever feel like the goals
4:13
I don't know that rotation help needs to be a priority at this point, although if Wacha settles for like 2/15, you can make a case it's just good value and they should jump on it
Jessie Winker

is the any way he gets flipped kind of like dinelson lamet or is he with the brewers to stay
Anthony Franco
4:14
I'm sure Milwaukee would be open to it but don't think they made the trade with an intention of flipping Winker. They could use offensive upgrades generally, and Winker has a chance to be a key left-handed bat for them

Which team do you think made the best under the radar moves so far this off season...moves that made little or no notice but will be ones that a lot of people will be calling 3-D chess next September?  And what were the moves that have you scratching your head saying, "Why the hell did they do that???" (Thanks, Anthony.)
Anthony Franco
4:15
Hmm, I don't know about 3-D chess but my general philosophy on the middle of the starting pitching market was to wait it out and seek out value, since I found most of the players below Senga indistinguishable
4:17
So I guess the Giants (Manaea/Stripling) and Rangers (Heaney) limiting their commitments are the deals I liked the most for teams

Indeed, things are moving
Did not foresee 5/75 for Benintendi. Good for him

I have to run, apologies for the questions I couldn't address today. You can reach out on Twitter with any stuff I didn't get to, and I'll make sure to respond on there
We'll do this again next week, have a good weekend! Thanks as always for your support!
