Starting to bump up on a lack of roster flexibility if they add another pitcher who doesn't have options, and it seems like they want to leave the door open for an Alex Carrillo or Dylan Ross to pitch his way in there

Both Cjinte and Williamson for Donovan seemed a little steep to me, especially seeing that Evans had just been ruled out for the season prior to the trade, and Cjinte could have (maybe) been used in that 6th starter/swingman role for the season. The Ms should be looking at guys like Bassitt/Giolito, maybe Reynaldo Lopez if the Braves would be willing to move him, to fill help fill in some much needed starter depth. Thoughts?

Should add a swingman but I don't think they're aiming that high. If everyone's healthy, that basically forces them into a six-man rotation and takes away a start or two from their top arms

I loved the trade for them. Donovan's the ideal roster fit. Williamson's fine but going to be pushed out by more talented players before long. Losing Cijinte and the picks hurts but you have to get up to get and they managed to do it without moving Ryan Sloan

The Rays have acquired players who have performed really well at triple A. I was wondering what metrics you focus on when determining whether you think a player will successfully transition to the big leagues ?
thank you

Age for the level is huge. A 28-year-old hitting well in his fourth season at Triple-A basically means nothing, someone doing it at 23 is more meaningful (though that player's probably still a prospect)
4:15
Strikeout rate's the big thing after that. The average pitcher quality in Triple-A right now is really low. That's a byproduct of the amount of injuries at the MLB level that forces depth arms up and a tendency for some teams (especially those with PCL affiliates where it's really hitter friendly) to keep their better pitching prospects away from parks where they're going to take a beating

If you're striking out more than 25% of the time against teams' ninth best starters, tough to see how that's going to work in the big leagues unless it's a super young hitter who is still early in his development

No question but a shout out to Mr Martinez who hangs up the microphone today and thus ends a six decade longer career in baseball as a player, manager and broadcaster.

Alright I also need to stop here and see where we're at with all the roster movement
