It'd be a tougher sell if they were in the Cardinals' situation, where the roster is really deep all-around but lacks a true ace. Atlanta would have a hard time landing a top-of-the-rotation arm (at least one controllable beyond this season) but Fried, Strider and Wright mean they don't have to

At 26 years old, have we seen the best of Gleybar Torres, or will he take his game to another level?
Anthony Franco
4:25
Could still see 2018-19 Gleyber again, which is a really good player. I don't think there's much more beyond that

Now that Jake ordozzi is out for the year what will Texas do?
Anthony Franco
4:25
Nothing right now. Odo was the #6 starter. It's unfortunate but not something they have to overreact to
4:26
Towards the deadline, rotation depth probably becomes a bigger concern given the health risks of the top five. But right now, it's not a huge issue

Thanks Anthony for doing these chats …..With the idea of baseball being a sport newer fans might be interested in today with the new rule changes. my questions is do you feel expansion, relocation or re-alignment happens. The TV Broadcasting and Stadium issues leading the problems to correct.
Anthony Franco
4:27
Expansion will happen at some point, probably within the next decade. The league has been consistent they have to sort out the stadium situations in Tampa Bay and Oakland first, both of which could be resolved (either by new stadium agreements or relocation in the A's case) by early next year
4:28
At that point, we should hear more about the league wanting to get to 32 teams

Is the Brewers offense for real? If so does that change the NL Central?
Anthony Franco
4:29
Brian Anderson seems healthy again, which is a nice boost. Liked that signing a lot. They've got the young outfielders (Mitchell, Wiemer, Frelick) who could be good and take their lineup to another level
4:30
I think it's a higher-upside lineup than they've had in the past two to three years. Need more than a week to buy in though. I remain a Mitchell skeptic based on the strikeouts, even as it seems like he's hitting a home run every other AB

Playing for Oakland, Ruiz should get the playing time, but think he hits enough to be among the stolen base leaders or does he end up as a 4th Of and pinch runner?
Jack
4:30
In a dynasty league do I keep Ruiz with the hope he will hit enough and steal a ton of bases or do I pick up Straw who started this year hitting and running, but is not sure thing to continue doing either?
Anthony Franco
4:32
Pretty similar questions here. I like Straw a little more than Ruiz for fantasy purposes but think they're both worth rostering in deeper leagues. I actually have them both in the one dynasty league I'm in
4:33
Oakland should give Ruiz more or less everyday run all season. Doesn't have a whole lot more to prove in Triple-A and there's no reason to relegate him to fourth outfield duty in a rebuilding year. Unless he goes into a major slump and they demote him for confidence reasons, he should be playing regularly in the majors
JL
4:33
Will the Os trade anyone to make room for their infield prospects and if so who could be a potential match?
Anthony Franco
4:34
I think they're more likely to just trade one of the infield prospects themselves. Dealing someone like Jordan Westburg for rotation help this summer seems viable, sure. They already have made one trade like this with Darrell Hernaiez for Cole Irvin
4:35
Too early to define which teams are going to market rotation help at the deadline. Miami, White Sox, Cleveland, Milwaukee, San Francisco all could deepening on how things shake out in the first half. No one's making a trade like that anytime soon
Rick
4:35
Only 23 ABs, but Yelich with 11ks. Too soon to panic, but what do you expect going forward? Also, does Bellinger look any different in the few games that have been played?
Anthony Franco
4:37
Yelich feels like a guy who's going to drive slightly above-average offense by walking all the time. Don't think MVP Yelich is coming back at this point
Far too soon to tell on Bellinger. Three walks vs. four strikeouts is nice but it's been five games
Ohtani
4:37
The Angels can't honestly trade Ohtani, right? I know there aren't a lot of us out there, but would there by any Angels fans left in August?
Anthony Franco
4:38
Would it be more palatable to lose him in free agency for a compensatory pick while missing the playoffs in 2023?
4:39
I think the Angels are going to be good enough to compete this year, which would avoid that decision for them. But if they're five-plus games out of the playoffs at the end of July and don't think they're getting an extension done, then they should pull the trigger. Does no one any good to let him play out the string in another losing season and then walk

Luke Voit or Avisail Garcia for rest of season only NL stats count?
Anthony Franco
4:39
Neither's not an option?
4:40
I'll take Avi, I guess
SteveM
4:40
What...no Jo Adell questions? He's washed up?
Anthony Franco
4:41
Awesome first week in Triple-A!
It's only a matter of time before the trade speculation comes back up. I do think this is the year the Angels actually pull the trigger and move him for a moderate upgrade elsewhere on the roster

Thoughts on Corbin Burnes?  Injury?  So far he is off to his worst start ever when many pundits penciled him in for a Cy Young.
Anthony Franco
4:42
It's two starts. The velocity's down marginally, which happens a lot in April. He'll be fine

I am scraping the bottom of the outfield barrel in a 14 team MLB roto league. My options for this week are Taveras, Larnach, B. Anderson, Sabol, and Wiemer. Anyone on this list pop for you?
Anthony Franco
4:42
Larnach, then Anderson
Stormy
4:42
Is it time for the Yankees to make severino a reliever?
Anthony Franco
4:44
Not unless he has another setback that pushes his return back deep into the second half. He's a free agent at the end of this season anyways, so while it sounds a little callous, I doubt they're all that concerned about his long-term arm health
4:45
And he's still clearly one of their five best starters when healthy. Especially with Montas also out, Severino has to go back in the rotation once he can pitch. He's a #2/3 caliber starter when his shoulder's right
Trade
4:45
McCarthy and Bum from the diamondbacks for Schmit and Hicks on the yanks?  No other reason except both fanbases will be pleased to rid themselves on one of the players
Anthony Franco
4:46
Arizona would think they're giving up the best player in that deal in McCarthy. Don't see them doing that, even if it'd save them a few million
