Dodger Dave
4:47
Any word on when Dodger prospects Bobby Miller or Nick Nastrini will start to pitch in the minors?
Anthony Franco
4:48
Don't think there's a timetable yet. MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis wrote a couple days ago that they're both still working out in extended spring training

Is Eloy Jimenez ever going to put it together and emerge as a star, or is he going to be a perpetual victim of ongoing injuries?
Anthony Franco
4:50
Always tough to predict injuries but Eloy seems like he's trending towards the latter territory. It's a lot of soft tissue problems, which seems more concerning than if he'd gotten a few fluky injuries on HBP's or something

Lots of top pitchers have been struggling so far. Is it just SSS/April or s there more to it? Velo drops, etc? I thought pitchers dominated early until hitting caught up.

Offense is up in general this year. Last April, the league OBP and SLG were .307 and .369, respectively. Those numbers sit at .322 and .408 this year, entering play today
4:53
Which feels like both a result of the shift restriction -- average on balls in play is up .013 points compared to last April -- and maybe a little livelier ball. The home run rate is also up a couple points

Thanks for the chat. Does hustle gate mean the Cards outfield glut has been settled and O'Neil will be the trade for a TOR? If so, doesn't running down your asset kind of hurt the market? Speculation is this is the tip of the iceberg but feeling like Carlson, Walker and Nootbar/Burleson will be the 4 going forward. O'Neil and Yepez to the Guardians for Bieber!
Anthony Franco
4:54
It's a weirdly public spat between manager and a well-known player. You don't typically get them trading barbs like that through the media, especially with how pissed O'Neill seems to be
4:55
Does that change the front office's calculus on a trade? That still feels like a reach. There's a lot of time for O'Neill and Marmol to sort things out before a trade like that could even be viable
4:57
O'Neill himself isn't going to headline a trade for a top-of-the-rotation starter. Guardians wouldn't take the Bieber trade you proposed. Could see him being moved for something else closer to the deadline if they can't get things sorted out behind the scenes

We’ve all seen red-hot starts of guys who disappear before the all-star game, but do you see a surprise player who just might retain some of that flash - I’m looking at civale, noda & Raley specifically… also whose cold start is the ghost of Scrooge’s present? Thanks
Anthony Franco
4:58
Just way too early on any of the guys you mentioned. Civale has only made one start this year. Noda and Raley have solid offensive track records in the minors but strikeout and defensive concerns
5:00
Wouldn't change your preseason opinion meaningfully on anybody yet. Guess if you wanted a takeaway, I'm encouraged by Masataka Yoshida only striking out in two of his first 28 MLB at-bats

Nola 200M?  Can Urias push 300M being 26?  The kid from Japan 180M?
Anthony Franco
5:01
We've loosely kicked numbers around this week because Tim's publishing our first 2023-24 Free Agent rankings in the next few days
5:02
I'm a little over on the numbers you mentioned for Nola and Yoshi Yamamoto. I'd have Urías closer to 250 right now but could see him getting towards 300 with a good platform year

What better way to wrap up than with an overrated breakfast food?
That's all I've got this week. Thanks for supporting the site and for all the questions as always!

Feel free to throw stuff at me on Twitter throughout the week as well. We'll do this again next Friday. Enjoy your weekends!
