Suwinski has to be better. I liked the fliers on Olivares and Michael Taylor but neither of those guys is hitting. They swapped out Henry Davis for Grandal/Bart behind the plate, which makes sense but reflects another disappointing start for Davis
5:04
There aren't immediate solutions though. They need a lot of their young hitters to take steps forward and it just hasn't happened. There's still a lot of intriguing talent but the rebuild hasn't accelerated and it should've by now

With Alex Cora presumably aiming for a Craig counsell like contract, where do you think he could land and who could Boston target to replace him?
Anthony Franco
5:07
Not any kind of fait accompli that he leaves Boston, but it looks like this could be Schumaker's last season in Miami. Cora obviously has geographic ties there. Who knows if Marlins ownership would offer what it takes to land him
Toronto and St. Louis could potentially make managerial changes depending on how their seasons play out

If you're Mike Elias are you calling up Mayo immediately or giving him some reps in corner OF at AAA for a while first? The bat looks uhh pretty ready for The Show.
Anthony Franco

It does but they already can't find playing time for Kjerstad. Mayo could bump UrĂas at third base, but the latter's out of options so that means they're probably losing him entirely
5:10
That's a risk, since Mayo is striking out a fair amount in Triple-A and has the defensive question marks. I think it's fine to let him keep tearing the cover off the ball in Norfolk for now

If the Cardinals make Helsley available at the trade deadline, what kind of return do you think they would get?
Anthony Franco
5:11
A lot. A year and a half of cheap control over an elite back-end guy should net a top 100 prospect as a headliner
Mason Miller
5:11
How does my trade value compare to when the A's traded Matt Olson or Matt Chapman (established all-star with only 2 years of control)
Anthony Franco
5:13
Completely different scenarios. Olson and Chapman had more trade value in a vacuum -- an All-Star hitter is more impactful than a closer and Miller's injury history is a real concern -- but the A's also had a self-imposed window of like three weeks to trade every notable player on their team coming out of the lockout

Alright, I have to wrap things up here
Thanks as always for all the questions and for your continued support of the site! Had a pretty good turnout today so I didn't get to everything. Feel free to reach out on X if I didn't answer here and I'll get back to you over the weekend

Have a great weekend everybody!
