Blue Jays

What's your take on the lack of progression from the former Blue Jays prospects? The league figured them out? They got lucky in their first years and we expected them to continue to grow / mature?
Anthony Franco

Is this in reference to Vlad and Bichette? I still think Bo's fine and going to produce the way he has over his first five seasons
4:14
Vlad's a very good hitter, but he's always hit more grounders than you'd want from an MVP-caliber slugger. That was probably the one thing he needed to change to hit his otherworldly ceiling and it hasn't happened

The Cardinals are at .500 and 0.5 GB of a playoff spot after finally getting on a run this season.  Can they make the playoffs, and what do they need to add to aid in their pursuit.  Bullpen help of course, like every team, but do you see them having the prospects to nab a #2 starter prior to the deadline?  And should they make such a push given they've been outscored by 35 runs so far?
Anthony Franco
4:16
Still don't think it's a particularly good team, but the last two Wild Card spots are up for grabs. They've got an older team, so they might as well push in if the opportunity's there
4:18
We'll see how they play over the next couple months. I'd guess they fall out of it but if not, then a Luzardo or Fedde becomes a reasonable target
Royal Help Now

The outfield days have been anemic season long for the Royals. With the trade deadline getting closer, do you see any ways of the Royals can jump the gun, and who might be available early. Thanks.
Anthony Franco
4:20
Not much out there early beyond Tommy Pham or maybe Brent Rooker. They'd be an interesting fit for Jazz. Could try to take a run at Jake McCarthy if Arizona's not sold on him as a regular

How would you rank these OF in a Dynasty league and do any standout positively or negatively? Carter, Nootbar, Buxton, Pages, Matos, Verdugo Varsho. Sorry for the long list, but I can only keep 3 or 4 and my outfield sucks to say the least.
Anthony Franco
4:22
Noot would be in his own tier for me. Probably go Pages, Carter and Buxton after that. Matos is at the bottom

Could ABS be a contributor to more runs and higher ERA's in the future?
Anthony Franco
4:23
If they went to the full ABS, it might, but they're going to start with the challenge system. That only changes a few calls per game and probably won't have much of an aggregate effect on scoring
Ryan Red Leg
4:24
I don't know what to make of the Reds. They sweep the Dodgers, then lose 2 out of 3 to the Cardinals. For the most part, they can't hit. It's painful to watch at times. Tell me they'll be ok......
Mike

The reds need a bat, find me one. Everything is on the table.

What would it cost the Reds to get one of the BIG two from Toronto?
Anthony Franco
4:25
Still think they're as talented as anyone else in that muddled NL Wild Card mix. Opportunity's very much there for them to get back in it. The Cardinals, a team I'd consider less talented, pulled back in about 10 days
4:26
Bo and Vlad aren't getting traded anytime soon. It'd cost multiple high-end prospects if they do it at the deadline

What are your opinions of Zach Thompson (st. l)?  Does he have a viable path to the rotation or is he a stopgap to get to higher pedigree prospects (Hence/Graceffo?
Anthony Franco
4:28
I've wanted Thompson to be a guy because I like the stuff, but he hasn't thrown strikes anywhere near the level necessary to stick as a starter when they've given him those chances

A package of SP Trevor Williams and RP Dylan Floro seems like it could be a solid, cheaper trade opportunity for numerous contenders. If the Nats were to package these two together (and they stay relatively close to the production they’re currently providing), what type of return would be fair and realistic for the Nats? Thanks.
Anthony Franco
4:31
Still don't think they'd get a whole lot. I know Williams has made some repertoire tweaks and is pitching well right now, but it's below-average velocity and an approach built around contact management rather than whiffs. Teams will probably still value him as a back-end guy. Floro's a solid middle reliever but not a leverage arm on a contender
4:32
First thing that jumps to mind on a package deal is when the Rangers traded Kyle Gibson and Ian Kennedy to Philadelphia a couple years ago. Texas got Spencer Howard -- a former top prospect whose stock had plummeted -- and a couple fringe minor leaguers

What would it take for Cleveland to acquire Justin Verlander and will he be traded at all?
Anthony Franco
4:33
I'd be really surprised if Houston traded JV
Alright, we're past the 90-minute mark so I've gotta wrap up here
