By all accounts, he's still on track for a second half return. Definitely could help even if he's just a back-end starter. Stability towards the back of the rotation is the Jays' biggest need right now

If their season continues on as-is over the next six weeks (signs of hope here and there but not actually moving up in the standings), would you sell off everything that you could or lol
Anthony Franco

Everything I could, no. Suzuki, Happ, Hoerner are there to stay for a while

I would move the impending free agents though. Stroman, Bellinger, sell high on Smyly (who has one more year after this one), Gomes if there's substantive interest

Hi Anthony!  Hope you're having a great Friday.  It's been painful as a Mets fan to watch this season unfold.  Forgetting changes to office personnel (Eppler, Showalter, etc.), what can the Mets do to become a better baseball team?  Assuming the players discussed were on board and the Mets were absorbing large amounts of the contracts, do the Mets make Scherzer and Verlander available?  Is there even a market?  Should Robertson be made available for top prospects?  Are there teams that would trade for Marte?  Thank you for your time.

Thanks! It is a really tough spot. Darragh and I talked about this on the podcast this week too. They've got veteran players available, most of whom are expensive but underperforming. Aside from Vogelbach, there's not a clear place to add unless you're displacing someone highly touted (i.e. Baty) or with a lengthy track record (Marte)

I still can't see this team doing a full teardown. They've invested way too much, and the high-priced underperforming veteran is the toughest player to move on from. No one's taking Marte the way he's playing, for instance. Moving Max/JV feels like punting on 2024 in a way that I can't see even if they could make the money work
5:06
I would be open to trading D-Rob. He's an impending FA reliever with a great track record having an excellent season. They could do well in a return there. Otherwise, I think they're mostly rolling with this group and hoping for better

I know Nick Senzel has been injured but has been hitting and playing third much better this year but he seems like a change of scenery guy.  Could he be part of of a trade package for another former prospect like Weathers, Adell, etc?  Can you think of any other change of scenery players that might be a fit?

Took a look at some change of scenery controllable hitters this week (Senzel included), so that should be in your email if you haven't seen it
5:09
I don't think any of the guys I mentioned would be swapped for Senzel, though. As far as swapping a former top prospect for Senzel, I think Weathers makes for an interesting one. Cincinnati probably has to kick in a minor leaguer or something but I like that idea. I doubt the Angels would do Adell for him

Cardinal fan... lots of talk about moving arenado and goldschmidt.  Is that even feasible? In case it is,  what would be the return? I think you could make a case they have replacement already do the focus would be on pitching right?

Goldy would be feasible if they wanted to do it, which I doubt. I can't see any way they're trading Arenado

Still have a few in here but I have to run to get some news on the site. Blue Jays called up Spencer Horwitz, Gio Urshela has a fractured pelvis
I'll get back to you on Twitter if you want to reach out with other stuff. Sorry for what I couldn't get to

Thanks for supporting the site and for all the questions every week! These are always a blast
Have a great weekend, until next Friday!
