That's a guy who'd be in like the 150-200 area overall. I think that's appropriate, assuming the acquiring team is also including a couple mid-level guys. Stroman's pitching really well but he's got less trade value than the typical rental because of the downside of next year's player option

Depressed yankee fan here.  So with the underwhelming FA position player class this year and looking at current roster construction and contracts they need to pay Chapman 220/250 to get him.   Even if they did that which I don’t believe cheapie Hal will do.  No Star LF’s and an anemic lineup without judge.   My apologies… can they be considered serious confers next year baring miracle trades?

I'd be sub-200MM on Chapman but I think I might be the low guy on him at MLBTR. That's beside the point of the question though
5:03
They certainly can be contenders next year. Judge is a hell of a starting point, they'll add again on the rotation front. Getting out from under the Donaldson money should afford them a chance to upgrade in the lineup somewhere. Whether the non-Judge hitters can hold their own depends in large part on whether Volpe or Peraza step up and establish themselves as quality everyday players

Jon Morosi saying that the Cardinals and Mariners have discussed hitter (STL) for young pitching (SEA).  What would the Cards have to give up to get Gilbert, Kirby, Woo, or Miller?

I'm not putting a ton of stick into that report. They've had dialogue at various points within the past calendar year, not clear if anything's active or even particularly recent
5:06
Could they line up on something involving Kirby and Jordan Walker or Lars Nootbaar? I guess. But it's really rare to see young players of that caliber moved this early in their careers, so I'd be really surprised if it happens

KC seems to have a logjam in the infield (other than 1b) with Witt, Garcia, Massey, Taylor, Duffy, and Lopez. Who's going to be playing 2b, ss, and 3b on opening day next year?

Witt's the shortstop. I think Garcia's good enough to get a crack at third base. Guessing the starting second baseman isn't in the organization right now

Who says no? Cubs trade Stroman and Yan Gomes to SF for Joey Bart, Villar and pitching prospects Birdsong and Dabovich. Cubs save $ on rentals and get young pieces, Giants make a push for playoff berth

I like this framework. Depends on whether the Cubs still view Bart as a future #1 catcher because the other guys are kind of ancillary pieces, but I don't think anything suggested here is outlandish
Alright that's all we've got in the queue and I have to cover stuff for the main site now anyways
