I think that ship has sailed, yeah. Even if it's a fine roster fit -- and Hader would make sense for any contender -- the optics would be rough for Milwaukee and the offense is probably a bigger priority than the bullpen

I am 28 years old, on track for my 3rd consecutive MVP-level season, (likely >10 WAR, currently OPS+ 184, ERA+ 145).  There are rumors that I could receive the largest free agency contract ever awarded.  In a bidding war (? NYM and LAD), would 12 years, $650-700M be inconceivable?  Also, I need to find another apartment. Where do you think I will end up?

I've kind of stubbornly stuck to $550MM but you could throw any number between 450-700 and I'd at least see the argument. Truly unprecedented player who's obviously going to shatter the record barring injury, impossible to know where the league will draw the line

The Giants need to go after a solid (#2 or #3) starter, preferably a left hander and preferably NOT a rental. Two r three suggestions and who would the Giants likely have to give up in such a deal?

Bieber's probably the likeliest 2/3 starter with multiple seasons of control to move. E-Rod fits the player archetype you suggested but he can opt out at the end of this season. The Giants have been comfortable giving out deals like that, but trading for one is tougher

I heard Manfred was caught on an open mic that they will still count German' perfect game without an asterisk..  Ha.  Congratulations to German, he pitched a hell of a game to 12k in the stands.  What was lost was that the A's had 33 years of not being no-hit but if that was going to end it was with this team.

AL-only keeper league question: rank these hitters for NEXT season: Josh Lowe ($1), Josh Jung ($3), Wander Franco ($15), Julio Rodriguez ($14).  I'm dumping expiring contracts and want to get max value in return.

I don't really know how to value the auction prices, sorry. I've never played in a league like that
Jung and Lowe seem close enough I feel comfortable putting Jung above him, but I don't know how to compare that to a more expensive player who's a clear superstar

Mentioned this in the email for the week but I think they should go hard after all the rental starters. Get one of Giolito, Montgomery or Snell (if the Padres can't get back in it). Push in for this year

Lee's a nice headliner but the secondary pieces there are kind of bland. Emmanuel Rodriguez feels very Padres
