Playing in New York helps with name recognition, obviously, but Alonso would get a ton of trade attention no matter where he plays. He's got three 40-homer seasons, career 136 OPS+. He'd be one of the best hitters potential available no matter who he played for
5:12
The question about whether they'll trade him is indirectly related to the market size. If he played for a struggling small market team (not the 2024 Royals, but any of their last nine years), it wouldn't be a debate because there'd be no real chance they re-sign him

Who are considered the top 2 or 3 best hitting coaches in MLB because of their abilities to improve hitters' results after he is able to help them, especially if they had poorer results with other teams ??  How about the same for pitching coaches ??    Thank you.

Really tough to answer from the outside. Kevin Long (Phillies) jumps to mind as a top hitting coach, Robert Van Scoyoc (Dodgers) as well. Brent Strom (D-Backs), Mark Prior (Dodgers) and Matt Blake (Yankees) all seem like good pitching coaches

Cards really need another starter and for the long term.  They were rumored in the past to have real interest in Logan Gilbert.  Just for argument's sake, what would the return have to be from the Cardinals' end to make that a reality.  Thanks.

I don't see a realistic scenario where the Mariners trade Gilbert midseason. Feels like it'd have to start with Nootbaar (once he's healthy) to even pique their interest

I'm curious to see Spencer Turnbull's market next offseason.  Based on the current information, which is of course limited, what is your current projection in years and AAV?  While I expect a relatively short-term contract, a pitching starved club could extend a year longer than expected, provided he stays healthy and throws well the remainder of the year and in the playoffs.

Hmm, that's a good question. He's not a player I've thought about much but he's been really good for Philly so far
I'd probably put him in the Nick Martinez range (2/26 with an opt-out after the first year) but there's a path to three years if he keeps pitching this well

If you were the Orioles, would you dangle Mayo for a major pitching upgrade?  Or a softer move, more in keeping with Elias’ track record?  (jettison Urias?)
Anthony Franco
5:21
The latter. Mayo would be off limits for me unless the Tigers are shopping Skubal or something

Royals OF - maybe Nimmo and a reliever for Singer?
Anthony Franco
5:23
Feels like this would require the Mets to eat more than half the money on Nimmo. Singer's a lot more valuable to K.C. on their respective current salaries

Anthony, what kind of return can the Angels get for Tyler Anderson and Ward in separate deals?
Anthony Franco
5:27
Ward's pretty valuable. They should get a top 10 organizational guy as a headliner for him. I don't think Anderson's all that interesting and would be fine with a middling return if anyone took the $13MM for next year off their hands

Alright, we're coming up on 90 minutes so I've gotta wrap this one here
