Caminero is not getting traded

If you had a spare $100 bucks and had to bet it the first big trade of the trade deadline season, who ya putting your money on?
Anthony Franco
4:06
Lol I'd need to be a trillionaire to want to waste $100 betting on when guys will get traded. I'll go with Keller
Pine Tar Pete
4:06
Rockies send Ryan McMahon to Cubs for Matt Shaw straight up, who says no?
Anthony Franco
4:06
Cubs, very quickly
The Knuder

Dylan Cease just gave up three home runs in his latest start, and has a 3-9 record. Seems to take a step back the moment he looks like himself again. Is MLBTR still bullish on him securing a big contract, and can the Padres still risk offering him a QO with the idea he'll turn it down and they'll get a draft pick?
Anthony Franco
4:07
We haven't really discussed the free agents since our last Power Rankings in May. We'll do a refresh on that in August
4:09
I still feel pretty good about Cease getting paid based on the velocity, durability and strikeouts but admittedly haven't looked super closely at why he has gotten bombed over his past handful of starts

Greettings sending some goood vibes and a question,Will the Braves deal Ozuna and what return is realistic
Anthony Franco
4:10
Yeah have to move him. I'd expect a prospect in the 10-15 range from a decent farm system
4:11
He has no defensive value, pretty expensive, hasn't hit in six weeks. There might be some teams that are out on him because of the previous domestic violence arrest
4:13
And yet, most teams need offense and he's still one of the top 4-5 rental bats who'll be out there. This year's power outage is pretty confusing but he hit 79 homers over the prior two seasons and the exit velocities remain strong
Trent Grisham
4:13
Should I accept a QO if I get one?
Anthony Franco
4:14
I lean no but a lot of it depends on how well he hits in the second half
Alex Anthopoulus
4:14
Ozuna has 10-5 rights, he has said the likes being in Atlanta. Doesn't this complicates a trade decision?
Anthony Franco
4:16
Ah yeah, nice catch. Jon Heyman has written a few times recently that Ozuna would likely be willing to waive it. That makes sense since the Braves probably aren't re-signing him anyways, so why not chase a ring? It does allow him to be choosy about his destination though

I look pretty good so far since coming back from my suspension, even if I've only walked once in 15 games. If I keep it up will I have trade value?
Anthony Franco
4:16
Not this summer. Teams can't have one of their most significant acquisitions be a guy who's barred from playing in the postseason
4:17
Big second half would build back value for a potential offseason trade, though the Braves would probably be better off keeping him at that point

Are we ever going to get a rule that stops baserunners from getting called out if their momentum takes them off the base for a nano-second?  I think it is ridiculous that a runner can get to the base safely but a defender often just has to keep the tag applied to "tag" the runner out.  The play should end when the runner touches the base.  What are your thoughts?
Anthony Franco
4:18
I'd support this. I hate those calls
4:20
If the guy slides all the way beyond the base and pulls himself off, he's out. But you can basically write in a rule that once a guy touches the base, he remains safe as long as some part of his body is hovering over the base to overrule these momentum cases
Learn To Slide
4:20
Maybe if players weren't so bad at sliding those situations could be avoided.
Hard call for a reason
4:21
FWIW, I disagree that baserunners should be allowed to overslide and be safe. Everything in baseball from pitching to hitting is about balance-power and sliding is no difference. If players are oversliding, they have something to work on.
Anthony Franco
4:23
Oversliding beyond the bag, I agree. I'm talking about the ones where the player hits the bag and his momentum pops him up for a split second. I feel like that guy was called safe for 120 years of baseball history and find it tedious to break it down frame by frame now just because we can
In short, excellence
4:23
Who's an unknown player 5'9" or below who's killing it and should have a larger fanbase? I.e. Jose Altuve, Mookie Betts, Jose Ramirez, etc. Spread some love for my fellow lil ones
Anthony Franco
4:24
Kind of cheating but I refuse to believe Ceddanne Rafaela is 5'10"
4:25
Alright I have to wrap it up here. Thanks for all the questions!
4:26
As always, feel free to throw anything at me on X @affranco10. I believe we'll go back to two subscriber chats next week since the deadline outlook series is basically done. Steve's got the Twins one more or less written up, and Mark's working on the Royals to close it out

Thanks to all of you for continuing to support the site! It's very much appreciated. Have a great weekend!
