I guess this question could be read as "will the Blue Jays specifically trade for any of them?" They're a viable fit, going to get some bullpen help, but pegging teams on specific reliever trade candidates is basically throwing darts
Trade bait
3:23
Could all 3 AL wild card teams come from the East?  Or will they all beat up on each other too much to allow that to happen?
Anthony Franco
3:24
I don't see it. Would take Baltimore and Boston to miss, probably for Seattle but the White Sox as well
Dave roberts
3:25
What would a bat like cooper or Martinez cost me
Anthony Franco
3:25
(Dodgers)
J.D. would cost more, I think, even with Cooper having the extra arb year. He just feels more like a game-changing lineup presence than Coop does
3:26
Some mid-tier talent from the system in both cases. None of their seven guys that made BA's recent top 100

3:26
What will the tigers do in the offseason
Anthony Franco
3:27
Going to need to overhaul a lot. Have to replace Barnhart with somebody better, should get at least one more infielder so they're not relying on both Schoop/Candelario every day. Probably going to need to backfill the bullpen with a couple arms after dealing a handful in the next few days
Nathan Eovaldi
3:28
How come my name is not popping up as much as a trade candidate as other pitchers?
Nate Eovaldi
3:28
What kind of prospects will i bring back? where will i go?
Anthony Franco
3:29
That he hasn't been in a crazy amount of rumors seems mostly to be uncertainty about how the Red Sox will approach the deadline. We've got him fifth among starting pitchers on our trade candidates post (which is now up btw), so we definitely think he could go
3:30
As for the return, feels like a couple 45 FV type prospects. Doubt he brings back anyone on a top 100 but he's more valuable than Benintendi
3:31
Twins make sense if Boston's willing to deal him to an AL team that's a viable Wild Card player. Cardinals, Phillies perhaps
Ian
3:31
Where does Ian Happ likely land in your opinion?
Mike
3:31
Ian Happ goes to...? ATL seems like a good fit right?
Anthony Franco
3:32
Atlanta fits but I think they might aim smaller like they did last year. I still kind of think the Padres are going to find some way to make the money work, and they'd be my pick probably
3:33
Blue Jays have been tied to him, Brewers work, Astros  as a dark horse if they're super pessimistic about Brantley's injury
Madag
3:33
Do you feel Yordan Alvarez's speed and defense are underappreciated by most people who do not see him on a regular basis?
Anthony Franco
3:34
I guess this isn't a great question for me since I don't watch any team (Astros included) super regularly. I'll say that generally I think of him as slow but a viable left fielder. Not good but not some kind of defensive disaster
3:35
I feel like the DH thing is mostly a) Michael Brantley's awesome and b) Yordan's had the knee concerns and they don't want to push him too hard and risk losing the bat

In your email article today you proposed a Jansen-Urquidy swap. The deeper numbers show how good Jansen has been to jays pitchers. Do you see the Jays going for the bigger SP (or player) with Moreno?
Anthony Franco
3:35
That was Steve
Whoops
3:37
That was Steve's proposal, not mine. I get the logic behind it but I don't expect (and don't think he expects) it to actually happen. It would be pretty bold for two playoff teams to swap important big leaguers like that, doesn't usually happen

3:37
Anthony, with the paucity of starting pitchers available and several teams in need, what can the Angels expect to get for Noah Syndergaard?
Anthony Franco
3:38
Not a whole lot, I don't think. The rental market is bad and he might be the best one out there (depending on  whether Eovaldi/Rodón go), but he also looks more like a decent 3/4 type than the kind of impact guy you'd love to have starting a playoff game for you
3:39
Paired with a salary (what remains of $21MM) that's going to take some teams out of it unless the Angels pay some down, I think there's value but not overwhelmingly so. I'm guessing the Royals return for Benintendi beats what the Angels end up getting for Thor, as an example
Praying for a trade
3:39
How probable is a Juan Soto to the AL trade before the deadline?  Which are the most likely teams?  Thanks, Anthony
Anthony Franco
3:39
Haha I'm like 55/45 no on whether Soto will get traded at all, and now you're trying to get me to handicap the league
3:40
Feels unlikely, between the uncertainty about whether he moves and the loose speculation that the Cardinals, Padres and Dodgers might be the most motivated. I don't know how to ballpark that overall. 15-20% he goes to the AL?
Mike K
3:40
Over/Under on Cubs being traded before the deadline?
Anthony Franco
3:41
Just the number of players dealt? Let's go 5.5
JL
3:41
Cedric Mullins for Lopez?  Does that work or will other pieces be needed?
Anthony Franco
3:42
That's a pretty fascinating one. I don't think the Orioles would do it -- Mullins has an extra year of control and López had the shoulder scare last year -- but it's not a crazy concept

Seeing a lot of Giants on the "maybe traded" list, but no White Sox.  While I agree the White Sox won't be sellers, I'm curious, what's fundamentally different between the White Sox and the Giants (both expected to be contenders, but outside the playoffs by a few games at the moment, and nearly the same record) that makes it more likely the Giants are selling?
Anthony Franco
3:43
Mostly the fact that the White Sox don't have great impending free agents. Even if they were to sell some short-term types, there's not a whole lot to go around
3:44
I can't see them dealing Abreu, Velasquez won't have any appeal. The only other rental is Cueto, who's playing a pretty important role for a team that wants to add starting pitching and has to worry about the innings for Kopech
Unless you think they're moving multi-year guys -- which we didn't project for the Giants either -- there's no good trade candidates there
Trade bait
3:44
Will any team make an offer to actually get the Astros or Guardians to move some of their "controllable arms"?
